    Excellent vacuum !

This is the best vacuum I've had yet for hard wood floors. I have 1 child, 2 cats ,a dog and a bird and it literally was a breeze on all of their mess, such as candy wrappers, hair, cat litter and seeds. We have a large townhouse and I could do the first-floor and steps without having to replug somewhere else. The dirt canister is larger than I thought it would be and the suction was great! It's also very easy to clean. It is lightweight and easy to handle and the micro-fresh filter only needs to be replaced 2 times a year ... (Now that makes me breathe easy). The only thing I can come up with that I would change on this vac is that it does not have a retractable cord. 5/5 Raven_Fan (Baltimore, Md USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) It's OK

I bought this vacuum cleaner for the air filter because, at the time, it was about ... less than a HEPA filter vacuum. I also wanted to try a bagless vacuum cleaner. The suck power of this vacuum is good, but not about to pull up any carpet. I found that having a bagless is not all it's cracked up to be - especially since trash and dirt are affected by static electricity and don't always pour right out. Make sure you clean the filter outside -- banging it around inside the house will just put dust back into the air. The vacuum is compact and stores well. I'm a little displeased with the handles, though. I don't think they're air tight enough.3 stars means I'm satisfied, but when it's time to get a new vacuum I'll look for a different one. 3/5 M. A. Suits our needs and pocketbook perfectly!

For hard surface floors with pets (dog, cats, bird) & kids this vacuum is perfect. It is light-weight and compact, easy to use, easy to store. Except the carpet attachment (which we rarely use) accessories attach to the handle, convenient for use & storage. My wife likes the machine because it rolls nicely and is light. I prefer toting it across my back (strap included).Related to other reviewer comments: (1) The new model has only one filter with recommended changing once per year. (2) Suction is very adequate but not what I expected of a 12 amp motor. Perhaps the HEPA filter requires extra horsepower. (3) When the house is really dirty, the cannister is probably best emptied after every room. (4) Less dusty than compressed air, we use a shop vac to clean the cannister and filter. It gets fine dust out of the filter. We feel we have to be careful, however, not to scrape the filter with hard edges of the suction tube. (5) Power cord retraction would be nice, but I am glad... 5/5 R. Knapp (MT USA) - See all my reviews, November 2, 2005

A GREAT bagless vacuum, but be aware of what you are buying

DISCUSSION:We have a larger house and so prefer to have 2 vacuums for different areas (carpet vs tile floors). For example there is no power brush on the floor attachment of this vacuum so it works best on smooth surfaces such as wood or tile floors. My petite wife Really likes it because it is light weight and easy to maneuver which is a big plus. After all we men sometimes forget who it is that normally performs the vacuuming in a house. As the man of the house I have volunteered to clean the vacuum when necessary so have lots of experience with that part of it. Cleaning is a little messy but no big deal. If you prefer not having the convenience of a vacuum that uses a replaceable bag then REGULAR CLEANING IS REQUIRED. We have had this vacuum for just over a year and it has given us no problems at all. All the attachments including the hose are very sturdy and obviously designed to last. Its used weekly.I would like to offer my compliments to the... 4/5 Grigori Efimovich Rasputin "The Mad Monk" (St Petersburg, Russia) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD40010 EZ Lite Bagless Canister (Kitchen) DISCUSSION:We have a larger house and so prefer to have 2 vacuums for different areas (carpet vs tile floors). IMPORTANT INFO regarding CLOGS

I've owned this vac for about 2 months and began experiencing loss of suction and poor performance. I was literally at wit's end and ready to throw the thing out the window. I bought new filters and still the same problems. I read the instruction manual over and over, looking for some reason. Here's the deal that the instruction manual DOESN'T mention: there is a pre-filter inside the plastic "bagless" collector part you pull out and empty (NOT related to the grey sponge or the HEPA filter). Open the bottom of the dirt/dust collector. Empty the contents and look up inside. There is a black cylinder inside a clear cylindrical receiver. I hold the bagless collector in my left hand so when I turn it upside down, the assembly is on the right. You can't miss it, although I did for 2 months. That is where all the hair and other light-weight junk builds up!!! Give the black cylinder a counter-clockwise twist, pull it out, and clean. I literally pulled out about a packed 8-ounce... 4/5 Anthony C. Slay "I Be Shoppin'" (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews, May 6, 2011

Wish I could give ZERO STARS

This vac was impressive out of the box. the suction was amazing... for a week. You quickly will discover that his vac takes an enormous amount of TLC. If you have a woman in the house with longish hair, or pets, it will clog up immediately. You have to use your fingers or a tool to pull out the debris EVERY time you vacuum. The filter pad has direct contact with debris, so it need to be replaced or washed every few vacuums. WE VACUUM EVERY DAY.. not carpet.. hard wood floors.. and this vac lasted a month before it completely died, despite all our extra care of unclogging, etc.I'm not sure what it is supposed to vacuum up. It can't handle hair.. it chokes on anything bigger than a cheerio.Miserable, awful product. Went into the garbage today.I suspect it has probably already been discontinued.PLEASE don't waste your money. 1/5 Twinsboystwice (House of Clone) - See all my reviews, January 2, 2010

    Very Good Canister Vaccum

I have mostly hardwood floors and a little carpet and not a lot of space to store a bulky vacuum cleaner. It was difficult to find a model that would transition easily between wood and carpet. This model is excellent on the hardwood and tile floors, but it is not the greatest on the carpet. The suction is great and easily adjusted from the handle. It is easy to dump the dirt from the bagless collection area. It is a little small, so if fills up fast. The only other issue I have with this is that the cord is very short - so you have to keep replugging it in all over the house. Otherwise, a very lightweight, nicely designed vacuum. I am very pleased with it. 4/5 D. Seymour "snadmus" (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews, February 4, 2007

WOW way better than expected !

I just got this vacuum a few days ago. I was a bit skeptical when I opened the box, its much smaller and lighter than my heavy old eletrolux that had just died before I ordered this one, but it was here and I needed to vacuum the house, so I figured I may as well take it for a test drive. Assembly was a breeze just plug in the hose, snap on the wand and cleaning head. I did the carpet in my living room first, and was impressed with how much power it had. I stopped to read the instructions on how to empty it and tried that too. Very easy just press a button and lift it out, press another button and it opens to empty. I was shocked to see how much it had already picked up ! After that I went ahead and did the whole house. I really like that the variable power control is on the handle and not the canister, the tools and heads are easy to change, and the cord rewinds with the touch of a button. I'm glad I picked this one, its easier to use and picks up even better than my old vacuum... 5/5 C. Leach "cybershopper" (Tampa , FL) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2007

    LOVE IT!!!

I love this vacuum! I have only tile and hard wood floors so it is hard to find a lightweight vacuum that does a good job. I had the Blue dirt devil vision and loved that but my kids are rough on it when they use it so it was pretty beat up after 4 years so I bought this vacuum. This one is even better. Love the auto cord rewind. I love the tools. I also like the fact that I can vacuum small areas and get under beds easily. Dirt Devil makes the best canisters for non-carpeted floors by far and I have tried several and have returned several!!!! 5/5 T. N. Good start to your cleaning

This is my first steam cleaner. I just know that when I clean the hotter the water the better (and easier) the cleaning. So I have thought about steam cleaners alot. The one thing that have come to realize is that most of these are just steamers not steam cleaners. What I mean by this is all that is used is water, so you will still have to soap up the surfaces before steaming. (Now I use the Lysol Antibacterial - not for the antibacterial so much but it is the best grease cutter I have ever seen!)Under the tank is a holder for a number of attachments from three small brushes (one of them metal) to a window attachment. So make sure you look for these. The large floor attachment and hose and extension are in the box with the canister. The floor attachement hooks directly onto the hose/extension but the other attachments just fit over the nozzle and occasionally fall of during use.I used this to clean my kitchen over the weekend, including cabinet... 3/5 Movie Mania "DVD Collector" (Southern Calfornia) - See all my reviews, November 14, 2011

    Excellent Product

I have tried other Steam mops. Shark's steam was good but built with low quality materials and the plastic broke just assembling it. Steam fast mop never worked, period. I was reluctant to try this one since I had bad luck before but the Dirt Devil name is what made me decide to try again. I was really looking for something more compact but glad I got this instead. The steam is strong and can be adjusted so there is more or less steam. My Oven had baked on guck on the bottom for years and within 20 minutes the steamer and wire brush had it clean and looking brand new and without that nasty oven cleaner chemical smell. The cleaner has a compartment to store all the attachments which is nice and the steamer has a stand so you can store it upright with the mop handle and head attaches to the steamers main body. The wheels turn easily and there is also a front wheel that swivels 360 degrees so you can easily move it around corners. The only draw back is that it doesn't have a... 5/5 Amy Peil (Springfield, OR, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Dirt Devil Steam Canister

I really wanted to love this machine, because I have so many uses for it, but unfortunately, I don't. I'll start will all the PRO's of this machine. Compact size, VERY easy to use, easy storage, clever design for tool storage, large wheels for maneuvering around easy, and a variety of cleaning tools. The CON's are more important to the purchase. The steam is very wet, which makes using the steamer messy. The hose fills with condensation quickly at each pause, and then spits water all over when you begin again. The tools look like they came from a toy set and did not hold up under use. The tools are really poor quality. I know the steamer is under $100.00, but it really should perform better than it did. 2/5 D. Bearss "Bookdweller" (USA) - See all my reviews, September 29, 2011

Great Value - Perfect for shorter pile carpet and bare floors

I received my new Dirt Devil Multi-Cyclonic two days ago. Put it through its paces. It's better made (better build quality) than I thought a Dirt Devil would be. Very impressed. Cord is on the shorter side, but that's a small concession for a very reasonably priced vacuum. The brush bar in the Power Nozzle has some good, and one not so good quality issues. For the good: the belt cannot break (geared belt) with a reset button if it jams. The height adjustment works perfectly, and I'm delighted there's a headlight (although a light on the front is not a deal breaker for me - it is for others). The brush roller is narrow in diameter - so you'll find yourself cleaning hair from it more so than if it was larger in diameter. The opening on the bottom of the Power Nozzle is also narrow - that's to optimize the pick up on bare floors, which it does superbly. I never saw any other power nozzle (with brush in OFF position) pick up as well on bare floors. However, on carpets, it's... 5/5 T. Gasko (st. louis, missouri) - See all my reviews, July 28, 2011

My Love / Hate Relationship with this Vac

Growing up my parents had a very expensive canister vac, and as a young girl I thought it was fun to vacuum, now it's NOT so much fun - and this will take some getting used to before I decide if I like this canister after using uprights for years. I have a 2 year old Dirt Devil upright and it has some similar features as this, such as the one-touch-to-empty dirt cup which I love. In general, uprights are easier to use because you don't have the canister tagging along behind you, getting caught on corners of furniture, and even the walls. However, the uprights are also heavier to push and can't go in every nook and cranny like a canister can. This vacuum was easy to assemble - I didn't bother looking at the instructions to hook-up the handle/wand to the hose, and to the canister, it was easy to figure out just by looking at the various parts and snapping them together. However, as to vacuum use, I did read the manual and I wish they had made it a little easier such as larger... 3/5 Yarii (Near Greentucky) - See all my reviews, September 26, 2011

My 2 Year Old LOOOOOOOVES this Toy...Even After 6 Months...

My son is obsessed with the vacuum. Whenever I break it out he INSISTS on holding it and trying to push it around. When it started taking me over an hour to vacuum the house due to his interference, I decided to 1: Vacuum while he's at Playgroup, and 2: Buy him his own little vacuum. I originally bought him the which he liked, but he wasn't fooled by it's 'cutesy' appearance. He knew it was a toy and wasn't really doing anything. So that brought me to this (it's much cheaper at Toys R Us by the way). He LOVES this little vacuum. We've had it for just over 6 months, and it's still a toy he plays with EVERY day. It says on the box this actually picks up...ehhh. It does, but VERY little, so don't count on your little one actually helping out with the vacuuming :) As for the noise, I'm... 5/5 Mercedes L. I purchased two of these for my twin 2 year old grandsons for Christmas. They were an immediate hit for them as well as the other grandchildren. It's Good. One Day One Of These Will Be Perfect.

This cordless vacuum cleaner (I LOVE cordless vacuum cleaners) has a lot of positives to recommend it. It does a great job for quick (dog hair) clean ups. Good suction. Good on the edges and area rugs. Easy to maneuver. Really gets under most furniture without argument or bumps, and even fits between the chair legs (in our house). The battery lasts. Feels substantial. Stores easily and out of the way.A good machine. But the dirt removal is a problem. Like most quick clean vacuums, there is way too much hand-to-gunk contact. But unlike machines that have some version of a cup that you can empty, this machine needs to be folded, lifted and held over the trash bin. And the weight that made the machine feel solid, is now awkward and unbalanced and makes emptying the dirt an aggravation. For some of us, this is a problem, even with our Wheaties.Maybe placing the machine into a plastic grocery bag that's on the floor and then opening the dust bin to empty,... 3/5 M. Great little floor vac

I recently purchased this vac for touchups between regular cleanings, and am very pleased with it. With three cats in the house, our main problem is cat hair. This vac does a wonderful job on the area rugs with the power brush engaged, and on the bare floors with just the suction. I can do the entire downstairs of about 1300 sq. ft. before the charge shows any signs at all of diminishing. There is no bag and it's very easy to empty and clean the dirt catcher. The fact that there is no cord to deal with makes it very convenient. It's more expensive than most vacs of this type but is well worth it, and I would recommend it to anyone. 5/5 J. M. HELPFUL HINT

I enjoy using this vac for quick pickups on hardfloors and even upholstered furniture. We have two dogs who track in from our incomplete landscape and grass planting. Also, I can see using this periodically as a take with in the camper or RV. Being able to leave it in the recharge cradle all the time without damaging the battery is helpful. HINT: I had been just opening the door and emptying the unit into the trashcan. when emptying the canister, remove both filter drums. I found that a great deal of dirt was trapped underneath the filter drum mount. Also, BOTH filter drums are easy to remove are totally washable. the inner filter drum takes a while to dry but is durable for washing in a sink of warm soapy water. 5/5 TNFlower "TNFlower" - See all my reviews This review is from: Black & Decker PSV1800 18-Volt Cordless Pivoting Floor Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I enjoy using this vac for quick pickups on hardfloors and even upholstered furniture. Powerful and lightweight

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive. The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. We have over 1500 sq ft of carpeted areas and steps so I put the new vacuum to work.Pros:-- Price (and I also used a gift certificate) - sweet!-- Lightweight! What a difference it makes.-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)Cons:-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. But it's cool how you plug-and-twist the hose in... 5/5 customer (Longmont, Colorado) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Breeze is a mixe bag(less) of good and not so good

First off, how do you say "mixed bag" about a "bagless" vacuum? Well however you say it, here is my opinion on it - the good and the bad. I purchased mine as a second vac, and despite past nightmares with entry bagless vacs, wanted something I could empty after each occasional use vs. store away with a partly filled bag.On the pro side: This unit is VERY light in weight. Great for those with arthritis or anyone who is carrying a vacuum up and down stairs. What is not lightweight is the power - it definitely has good suction. I also like the slightly narrower width whem compared to most other vacuums - 13" wide vs the more common 15" wide may not seem like much, but this fits in narrow places yet is still a full power vac.On the neutral side: Emptying is easy, but like most entry level bagless units, the filter is a mess to deal with. Best bet is, from time, use a second vac to clean this units filter, or used canned air outside upwind.Attachments are okay... 3/5 A. Maier (Fort Wayne, IN) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2008

Built Like a Tank, Sounds Like One, Too!

I've had my Dirt Devil Breeze for (3?+) years now (Obviously an older version but based on what I see from the picture nothing had changed much.) Bought this as replacement to a previous vacuum cleaner which had the "fan" (not sure if this is the correct word for it) that was in the path of the dirt (I believe that was a hoover). I used it to pick up some solid object and got stuck in the "fan" which caused it to break on me. The design of the breeze was a lot better since the filter catches objects before it gets to the suction mechanism. Overall, does what its supposed to do.Cons:- The exhaust out in front was definitely a design "duh". But you wouldn't realize it till you use it for picking up light material (e.g. small bird feathers).- Is there an easier way to switch from bottom suction to the onboard tools?- Emptying the canister is definitely a hassle (but sames me money in the long run)- *LOUD* And I cannot say this enough. My unit is a... 2/5 M. LAPITAN (Harrisburg, PA) - See all my reviews, December 26, 2008

    Same as factory but ..

Doesn't come with the foam filter overlay. Clogs easily without the foam cover ( which the dog ate :-). I wish the description had been better. 3/5 D. A. This is a great product!

I wanted to write this review because there were somenegative reviews which almost caused me not to buy it, but Ibought it anyway. I decided to wait a few months (4),though, to make sure I really liked it.I do.The negative comments were: *********************1) short cord and owners manual says don't use an extensioncord.2) I have COPD, and somebody said emptying the canisterraised a huge cloud of dust.3) Others stated that the exhaust was on the front of themachine and would blow around the debris you were trying topick up, especially on hardwood floors. ***********************1) This sounded weird, so I got out my calculator. A 25 foot14 gauge extension cord added to the 19 foot cord on themachine gives you a 44 foot cord - 88 feet of copper tocomplete the circuit. This gives you - with the 7 amp motor- a voltage drop of... 5/5 M. Johnston "Mike J" (Colorado) - See all my reviews, December 17, 2011

    Pleasantly surprised

My father bought me this vacuum for Christmas since my old hand me down one finally died. I opened the package and was worried that it wouldn't be very strong considering it's size... WOW. I have a cat and a dog and this thing picked up every single hair in the house. I was shocked to see how much dirt had been in my carpet all this time... and more shocked that this lightweight vac picked it all up. It's great for the stairs too because it's so light. I would recommend this to everyone. 5/5 AKFlorida - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum, UD20010 (Kitchen) My father bought me this vacuum for Christmas since my old hand me down one finally died.
