  Dirt Devil Battery Quality

  I have had two of these 14.4 volt cordless / bagless Dirt Devil Stick vacuums..The battery will last about 6 months before it starts failing and at about 9 monthsit will only vacuum for about two minutes before the power falls to about 50% of full charge..I charge for 24hrs between daily use...I sent my first machine back to Dirt Devil for replacement after about 10 months of use and they sent me a new machine which has exactly the same poor battery life as the first machine..The machine is also easily plugged up by anything larger / more coarse than dog hair & dirt...Anything larger thana sunflower seed will plug it up... 1/5 Billy Gene Strong - See all my reviews, December 26, 2009

  Worthless

  I'm amazed every time I see a good review for this vacuum. I may have just gotten a bad one, but I highly doubt it. It has NO power or suction at all. I would go over the same piece of dirt over and over again and it couldn't pick it up. It takes forever to charge then it doesn't hold that charge for more than 5 minutes. I only used mine five times before I died completely. I didn't even use it for anything heavy duty. Light dirt on a small tile kitchen; no carpet, not 2000 square feet, etc. I wish I had saved my money for something better.   Best Cordless Stick Vac EVER

  We have now gone through 2 of these vacs in 5 years. They are the best. Not only is this vac one of the lowest priced stick vacs on the market today, but it out performs every stick vac except possibly the Hoover Platinum which is $179 at Target. Recently our 2nd one died and I have been searching and searching for a replacement. I have bought 5 other stick vacs, a few with the 2 in 1 dustbuster type and they all stink. They cost more and dont pick up nearly as much as this dirt devil. This one also is very convenient to store and charge as it sits in a little charging module. It just sits in it. You dont have to line up some hook type thing like many of the other vacs. So you just pick it up and to replace just drop it down. So Easy so awesome! I cant find any in any of the stores around me, target, walmart, homedepot, sears... But hurray, you can find it online. We actually just purchased the upgraded model...15.6V and cant wait to get it!   UPDATE FOR REVIEW BELOW:Okay...fifteen days before the two year warranty was to expire...it quit charging. With a deep breath, I contacted customer service. I was initially told to take it to the nearest service center which was 45 miles away. I said that was too far for me and was transferred to someone else who promptly gave me instructions to send a clip of the power card and the manufacturer sticker on the back of the vac and they would send a replacement. Exactly six days later, FedEx delivered my replacement vac! I am stunned..this kind of warranty back up just is not seen in America. So, the vac lasted two years which is twice as long as my Shark vac lasted and the prouduct warranty was actually honored by the company! Yes, it can be a bother to have to keep that filter clean, but again, it is a great little helper when it comes to keeping the basement family room picked up and for quick pick up throuhout the house.   my favorite vacuum cleaner for about 2 yrs now...

  bought this on amazon to replace my order one... the older one worked great until.. I broke it....   Perfect for what it is

  This vacuum is perfect for what it is. I like the fact that the Accucharge won't drain the battery like what happened on my Dustbuster. This does need pretty frequent cleaning to keep up the suction, although that's not difficult at all. The Dirt Devil makes a very loud, high pitched noise, especially if it's not 100% clean, but I can totally live with that. It's been so nice to have this to clean up after our shedding dog and dirt from our kid's feet. The rotating brush does help picking up dirt from our carpet.   A little wonder

  Having just put tile throughout the house, and living with 3 dogs and 2 cats, I hated hauling out the heavy vacuum and plugging it in. And then unplugging and plugging again and again all the while dragging it around the house.. This little wonder does the whole house, is light and does the job. The only complaint I could possibly have is that the dirt cup is quite small and has to be emptied frequently. I generally like it, but it's not really intended to replace your "real" vacuum if you have carpet (especially if you have kids or pets), and that's what I'd been hoping for.   Nicest little vacum

  I bought the Dirt Devil for use at the cabin. Some weekends, we have four big, hairy dogs, three cats, and a pile of humans hanging out. The common messes are pet hair, grass, and dirt. The floor is white vinyl, so everything shows.My husband and I are thrilled with the Dirt Devil. It stands in the corner of our bedroom on its charger and takes little to no room. We can pull it out, and clean the rugs and vinyl quickly and efficiently. The cup needs to be emptied often, but that's because of our dirt, not a fault of the Dirt Devil. It's light, easy to manuver, and I love not getting tangled in the power cord. I always seem to have trouble getting the dirt cup back on, but my husband never does, so it it's my issue, not a Dirt Devil issue.A pleasant surprize has been how well it does on stairs. In the process of deciding which model of hand vac to buy, I ran into a number of confusing issues.First, before this purchase (of 2 hand vacs), I have never bought any hand held vac that was NOT a Black & Decker DUST BUSTER.   Works very well but does *not* feel secure on the wall mount

  This is a very nice little vacuum. I keep it in my garage, near the entrance from the kitchen, and use it for small jobs like cleaning the kids' crumbs off the car seats and floors, sucking up bugs and spiderwebs from the garage wall, cleaning food crumbs from crevices in the kitchen, and removing dust and crumbs from my computer keyboards and monitors. It has a small retractable brush that is very useful for car cleaning, and a plastic nozzle that can flip forwards to extend the reach, which is good for cleaning things high up and sucking up bugs.Apparently this device has a smart charger which does not simply keep the battery at full charge all the time but optimizes the recharging to extend the battery life. I have certainly not noticed any deterioration in the battery in the several months I have owned this vacuum.Opening the device to empty out the dirt is easy.   Where is the power?

  The Dirt Devil starts off great, but it relies on a single, relatively expensive replacement filter. After a few minutes of use, it was clogging itself.I bought this product and the Black and Decker Dust Buster CHV 1400 at the same time from Amazon. The Black and Decker is not only a better product but cheaper at initial price and in the long run. The B&D picks up broken glass and spilled rice without issue, and relies on multiple cleaning features, that just need a dump in the trash. Much longer time before you have to replace the expensive disposable filter. Better battery life, and power. The dirt devil's only advantage is that is comes in silver and sleeker.The B&D is by far the better product.I am updating this review now 3 years later. The Vac still works fine, just used it today. So upping this to 4 stars. $40 product lasting 3 years, got to be something said about that. Howerver still like the traditional vacs better like the B&D. 4/5 Jeffrey S.   I purchased the vacuum through Amazon. It is indeed a powerful handheld vacuum. Cons: the replacement filters are expensive $5 each, plus postage and you can only get them through Dirt Devil. Then you also need an adaptor, $2, for the filters. The filters are paper, clog up very quickly, and are not cleanable. The retractable nozzle is very handy but swivels on two very small plastic nibs/arms. One of these arms broke just two months after I got the vacuum and Dirt Devil says I now have to purchase the entire front "cup" for $9, I cannot just purchase the swivel arms. If I had known the cost of the filters and that they do not last very long, and that the nozzle arms are not very durable(it is a poor design), I would not have purchased the vacuum. Too expensive to maintain.P.S. I did get the front cup, so I could use the swivel arms, Dirt Devil did not charge me, this was covered under warranty. That surprised me.   I was looking for a F4 filter replacement to fit into the filter adapter (part 1-ME1960-B00) on my Dirt Devil Extreme power hand vacuum. This product is actually the filter adapter combined with the filter itself. It's a perfect match for replacing the filter in this vacuum - only the color is white instead of grey like what was in my hand vac.   I purchased a dirt devil M084100 stick sweeper. It was suggested that others bought these filters as well while purchasing the sweeper. I thought this was a good idea, so agreed to purchase them. They were only $5 or $6 so it made sense to buy and ship these under the same order. BE CAREFUL to read the suggested product, in my case the filters that I ordered do not come close to being the correct ones for my vacuum. Make sure you don't take for granted that the selected products are correct, I made this mistake. I'm sure this product will work fine, but I will not be able to use it to know for sure.   I Love This Stick Vac!

  After reading all the reviews, I wasn't sure this product was what I wanted. After using it, I am thrilled that it is light, easy to use, CORDLESS, and picks up a bunch of cat hair and dirt every time I use it. I empty the dirt catcher everytime I use the vacuum because I want to see how well it picked up. I am always impressed. This is a terrific little stick vac.
