    UPDATE

UPDATE FOR REVIEW BELOW:Okay...fifteen days before the two year warranty was to expire...it quit charging. With a deep breath, I contacted customer service. I was initially told to take it to the nearest service center which was 45 miles away. I said that was too far for me and was transferred to someone else who promptly gave me instructions to send a clip of the power card and the manufacturer sticker on the back of the vac and they would send a replacement. Exactly six days later, FedEx delivered my replacement vac! I am stunned..this kind of warranty back up just is not seen in America. So, the vac lasted two years which is twice as long as my Shark vac lasted and the prouduct warranty was actually honored by the company! Yes, it can be a bother to have to keep that filter clean, but again, it is a great little helper when it comes to keeping the basement family room picked up and for quick pick up throuhout the house. Thank you Dirt Devil for a great product... 5/5 D. Ackley (Easton, PA) - See all my reviews, December 7, 2009

my favorite vacuum cleaner for about 2 yrs now...

bought this on amazon to replace my order one... the older one worked great until.. I broke it.... I slammed it against something hard and it broke completely.. don't ask me why... but that happened and I had to replace it with a new one..CONS-the suction isn't the best...user has to hold the vacuum at a specific angle for the suction to be perfect..-only good for small waste and dust... bigger waste tend to stuck and the user has to dig it out with fingers...PROS-the charge time is very short-does not take any room so for people who care about the interior look - this will look fine and sometimes unnoticeable if you put it right beside a little table or in the corner.-easy grip and easy usage-for students and for people with apts (studios to 1 bedroom) this is a very good vacuum !!!for me Iuse it almost everyday to clean out everyday dust and my dog's fur off the floor, and it's a very good product for what... 4/5 Hyun Jun Kim "Josh Kim" (NY, USA) - See all my reviews, December 28, 2009

    Perfect for what it is

This vacuum is perfect for what it is. I like the fact that the Accucharge won't drain the battery like what happened on my Dustbuster. This does need pretty frequent cleaning to keep up the suction, although that's not difficult at all. The Dirt Devil makes a very loud, high pitched noise, especially if it's not 100% clean, but I can totally live with that. It's been so nice to have this to clean up after our shedding dog and dirt from our kid's feet. The rotating brush does help picking up dirt from our carpet. We use this vacuum almost daily. 4/5 krispin "krispin" (Berkeley, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Shocked at other reviews

Wow! I'm a little shocked at the bad reviews! I bought this on black friday for $[...] and I LOVE it! I had previously used a swiffer sweep & vac (the battery died and it didn't clean up bigger messes) and then I bought the shark stick vac (one of my kids knocked it over and cracked it). So I purchased this as a third stick vac. I love it. It is very powerful, I don't understand these people saying it doesn't pick up messes. It totally picks up messes big and small!!! We remodeled our kitchen and I used it to vaccumm little sheetrock particles as well as the every day messes my 4, 5 year old kids & 3 year old lab leave behind. I have had some issues finding a new filter at walmart and target but I suspect I will find one easily online. Overall I LOVE this vac. I use it only for my tile areas and yes maybe you do have to empty it semi-often (but I have forgotten about it alot and never had a problem)it works great for cleaning up after my 2 kids and dog. 4/5 Holly Evans "Hevans" (Midland, Tx) - See all my reviews, May 16, 2010

    Great for small jobs

Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great for vacuuming my area rug and hardwood floors. I wouldn't expect this machine to clean up a large mess. Very lightweight, easy to maneuver and much quieter than a full size vac. Nice that it also transforms into a hand vac. In one use it picked up a lot of dust and cat hair that wasn't evident. Definitely a keeper! 4/5 Kath&Chloe "KC" (Beverly Hills, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great little vacuum for small spaces!

I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. When I opened it, and it went together like a lego toy, I was skeptical. But it's amazing!! It's never going to be your only vacuum if you have a big house (the wheel base is small, so you'd be doing a lot of walking back & forth), but if you have a little apartment, or want to keep a seperate vacuum upstairs, or in different rooms of your house, this vacuum is perfect for that! It's basically a hand-held vac, that has a detachable stick-handle, vacuum/wheel base, and crevice tool. Unlike the cordless hand-vacs, it doesn't lose power after 30 seconds, because it's electric. The crevice tool works great, and it's as light weight as one of those kids' toy vacuums. Also, when I emptied it (you will have to empty it pretty much every time you use it, but what do you expect?) I was shocked at how much dirt was in it- I'd just vacuumed with my expensive... 5/5 stefany9579 (Olympia, WA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. Great Little Machine

Bottom line ... this is a great little machine that does the work it's meant to do. I used this machine for a solid 45 minutes while vacuuming two entire floors of my home - including stairs - one of the best parts was that this machine did not over-heat as with other 'bagless' vacuums I've purchased in the recent past (which were put out into the garbage!).I could see that the vacuum was performing from the dust and debris that was entering the dirt cup. My home has all hardwood floors with a "mud" throw at the various entrances. The vacuum works great on hardwood surfaces and also did a nice job on the thin non-slip entrance rugs. Assmebly was a snap ... literally. The vacuum is VERY lightweight which is a big plus in preventing scratches on hardwood. This vacuum also has a very quiet motor - you can actually hear the phone and/or doorbell while you're running the vacuum!Although I'm happy with my purchase and believe this is a great little machine, I... 5/5 Pleased Repeat Customer (New Jersey) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not good enough

I bought this to clean cat litter off of carpet squares and bare floor tile. At first, it did what I bought it for, but just barely. After about two weeks, it began to act like it was full even though it wasn't and would leave a pile of cat litter when shut off. Maybe the filter was clogged, but it looked fine me. 1/5 S. Don't throw away your $$!

It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. It is very noisy for its size, and you'll have a lot of trouble cleaning the filter - all of the dirt gets on the filter and one has to breathe a lot of dust after opening the cleaner.I could go on with disadvantages until tomorrow, but instead, take more $$ and get yourself a decent vacuum! 1/5 Alex (Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Swift Stick (Kitchen) It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. Great suction power but my ear is ringing!!

I purchased this 12 amp Dirt Devil after my 6 amp Eureka broke from 3 years of weekly use. I was very happy with my original 6 amps of power. However, I decided it was time to double up since I live with two cats that constantly shed. The DD does a great job at picking up furballs, sand, dirt, crumbs, small pebbles and many more from my hardwood and tile floors. Besides a great suction power, the DD is also light weight and stands up on its own. However, there are many drawbacks:1) Too LOUD!! I wear ear plugs every time I use this machine (seriously!!). We already know it has 12 amps of power... we don't need to hear it!2) The handle is too short. I am 5 feet 6 inches and I honestly feel that the handle is about 2-3 inches too short. I constantly find myself bending my back while using this machine.3) The vaccum head does not swivel. I loved the fact that my old Eureka had the ability to swivel. It definitely made vaccuming easier. 4) Air shoots out of the side... 2/5 LazyCats "LazyCats" (Muttontown, NY) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Woohoo Power!

I live in a dorm room, therefore I have very thin carpet in a very small living space. Nonetheless, I would still like it to be clean. So, I came to dilemma of whether to buy a full size vacuum or go for something smaller. My family has always bought Dirt Devils - from a full size vacuum down to the small handheld Scorpion, and we've always had excellent results. Great power, long life, sturdy, etc. So, in my quest for the perfect vacuum, I found the Power Stick. What caught my eye was the specified use for dorm rooms. I figured the price was right, free shipping, and ordered it right away. Dang is this vacuum powerful! It's as powerful as a full-size vac, yet only half the size and weight. Granted it is really loud, but I don't mind that as it takes no time whatsoever to get hte vacuuming done. I got my entire room done in less than a minute, but my floor is extremely clean. I couldn't believe how much it picked up! There's a huge mouse-sized hair ball in the cup, and I didn't... 5/5 Empyreal (LA, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Power Stick Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, 10 Amps, M084100RED (Kitchen) I live in a dorm room, therefore I have very thin carpet in a very small living space. Sucks so hard it's scary

I bought this unit because it had a "reasonable" 12 amp motor. I figured it would actually pick up dirt even without a beater bar. I was right more than I ever expected, in fact thats my only complaint. It is so powerful, that the outbound air often hits your legs with a high velocity blast of warm air and bounces around your work area moving the dirt and dust devils around. Other than that it is great. Light, extremly powerful, and easy to maneuver into corners. Be aware however, the motor is so powerfull that ocasionally you will feel like you have a bucking bronco in hand when you turn it on.Summary Pro and Con.Pro:1. Extremly powerful2. Light3. Easy to maneuver.4. Easy to store using a hook on the wall5. No bags to buy6. Outstanding priceCon:1. Startling when started (trys to twist out of your hand)2. Loud3. Small dirt holder4. Head of unit hangs down with "detents" to hold in your desired position... 5/5 Calvin Thomas (Torrance, CA United States) - See all my reviews, November 13, 2003

    Extremely dissatisfied

After reading the other 5 star reviews I ordered this item. I wanted to replace my Shark cordless sweeper that was wearing out. The Dirt Devil was more flimsy than the Shark. It didn't pick up as well. The entire top of the sweeper was covered with dust after I used it; this never happened with the Shark. It was hard to turn on and off with my foot compared to the Shark. The final problem occurred after I had used it for less than a week and the left wheel broke off. I returned it for a refund.Although my experience with this product was disappointing, as always, my experience with Amazon was completely satisfactory. They have a return policy with no questions asked and send you a return mailing label. I find myself buying more and more from Amazon because of their superior customer service. 1/5 Hollida Wakefield Underwager "Hollida Wakefield" (Northfield, MN USA) - See all my reviews, January 9, 2010

We will never go back to regular sweeping! Great for the elderly.

I bought this for my elderly mom to help out with basic cleanup since the vacuum is too heavy for her, and she can't bend her back very well to do regular sweeping. To her, this sweeper is a god-send. It picks up everything rather well from carpets and the bare kitchen floor. It is super light and maneuvers around very easily. Worthless

I'm amazed every time I see a good review for this vacuum. I may have just gotten a bad one, but I highly doubt it. It has NO power or suction at all. I would go over the same piece of dirt over and over again and it couldn't pick it up. It takes forever to charge then it doesn't hold that charge for more than 5 minutes. I only used mine five times before I died completely. I didn't even use it for anything heavy duty. Light dirt on a small tile kitchen; no carpet, not 2000 square feet, etc. I wish I had saved my money for something better. Best Cordless Stick Vac EVER

We have now gone through 2 of these vacs in 5 years. They are the best. Not only is this vac one of the lowest priced stick vacs on the market today, but it out performs every stick vac except possibly the Hoover Platinum which is $179 at Target. Recently our 2nd one died and I have been searching and searching for a replacement. I have bought 5 other stick vacs, a few with the 2 in 1 dustbuster type and they all stink. They cost more and dont pick up nearly as much as this dirt devil. This one also is very convenient to store and charge as it sits in a little charging module. It just sits in it. You dont have to line up some hook type thing like many of the other vacs. So you just pick it up and to replace just drop it down. So Easy so awesome! I cant find any in any of the stores around me, target, walmart, homedepot, sears... But hurray, you can find it online. We actually just purchased the upgraded model...15.6V and cant wait to get it! Love this little vac!

This is a fantastic little vac. It isn't as loud as my last stick vac and it doesn't scratch my wood floors. The first day I bought it I really put it through the paces. I was impressed with how well it cleans floors, carpets and rugs with fringe. I love the fact that you can turn off the roller to do the fringed rugs and floors. It picked up popcorn and screws easily. Sand and gravel from the kids shoes, no problem. After a rain, the floor got a little muddy from all the kids going in and out so I just turned on the brush and VOILA, the dried mud went right up.It really does stand on it's own, even on a soft cushy carpet. The only changes left to make is to lengthen the cord a bit and put a small pull-out nozzle high up on the side so I can use it for practically everything, such as dusting windowsills. I won't let my wish list ruin the review though. 5 stars for the best little vac I've had yet. 5/5 Karen B. "Karen B." (Tucson, AZ USA) - See all my reviews, February 18, 2005

The guy review of a bagless vacuum-UPDATE

I went out looking for a small vacuum WITH a bag, trying to avoid the bagless (didn't want to deal with the dust), but changed my mind when I found this one.Excellent and no-nonsense. I can whip this baby out and have it running in 3 seconds. This thing is great for quick clean ups, like the kitchen, although I have used it for a complete downstairs vacuumingGood points: two modes--carpet and floor. Works both surfaces great. The carpet-mode simply powers up the power head roller. The low-profile, swivel head means I can get under everything, everywhere, even couches, which means less furniture to move.Quick-release power cord hook, so I'm not spending five minutes unraveling the reasonably-long cord.See-thru "unbag" so you know when it's getting full.It is small enough to store anywhere, even has a hole in the top of the handle to hang in a closet.Bad points: I'm thinking hard on this one. Good for limited purposes

I have purchased two of these vacuums. Both work very well on bare floors and area rugs. But they will overheat and cut out temporarily if using the power nozzle in dwellings with wall to wall carpet. I have called the company to report the problem and was advised that they are not meant to clean entire houses or apartments, or even entire rooms of any size with wall to wall carpeting. The company says they are meant for "touch-up" cleaning in small areas. Nevertheless, as I said, they have worked well cleaning an entire small house with bare floors (and not using the power nozzle). It ia using the nozzle for extended periods of time that apparently causes the overheating. 3/5 Charles Shelton (Grottoes, Virginia USA) - See all my reviews, April 16, 2007

    PROBLEM WITH BREAKING HOUSING FIXED!!!

After reading some of the reviews here, I was concerned about buying this cleaner, even though it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for to replace my expired 1974 model Eureka electric broom (Brand loyalty lead me to look for another Eureka, but unfortunately, the company has been bought and sold several times, and they no longer make the quality product they did when I purchased my electric broom.) I visited my local independent vacuum dealer that I had used in the past in keeping my Eureka going all these years; and when he informed me he couldn't get the parts to rebuild the motor; I asked for his recommendation, and he endorsed the Hoover Flair. When I voiced my concern about the breaking housing, he showed me how the problem area has been reinforced - I mean the plastic tapers to 1" thick at this point. Hoover is now owned by Maytag, and they are concerned with making a quality product. Based upon that, and the strength evidenced by the thickness of the plastic in this... 5/5 J. C. Great until it fell apart

With new low pile carpeting (berber) and tile floors elsewhere in my home, this seemed to be the perfect solution and alternative to my trusty Kenmore. The Hoover was easy to handle, descent suction, fairly easy to empty the canister (albeit slightly messy as the dust/dirt tended to "fly" a bit), long electrical cord and an overall lightweight appliance easy enough to manage under tables and chairs and such. However, the third use resulted in a crack in the foot that attaches to the body - this resulted merely from preparing to turn off the machine - too much pressure when placed upright? One crack lead to another, then chunks flew off to the point that the bottom no longer stayed attached to the unit, no way to replace the part without replacing the entire base/foot - not cost effective and of course, past the 30 day return. If the hard plastic connection from foot to base were reinforced or if a preventive measure of duct tape or such around the connection were made I... 2/5 DIYer - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Decent for light use

I bought this vacuum along with another regular vacuum (eureka 480?) at the same time from amazon. The quality is not too good, but decent, but what do you expect for such a cheap cost. I paid $25 by using the gold box. It works pretty good for light use like picking up small dirt, dust, and hair from the hardwood. It works on carpet too, but since there is no real aggitator, it only does an OK job. Just surface debris. The bag system is a pretty big pain in the ***. You have to use your fingers to pull out disgusting dirt stuck to the filter. It is pretty light and glides through the floor very easily with it's rollers. This vacuum is good for when you have hardwood floors and you don't want to use the big heavy vacuum all the time. I would reccommend it to people as a secondary vacuum. Most I would pay is $30-35 for it. 3/5 J. Yoon (Placentia, CA) - See all my reviews, August 6, 2004

    Meh. Unimpressed.

If you're in the market for a robot vacuum this one sits on both the low end of pricing and features. The unit itself is smaller than a roomba, slower than a roomba, and is not effective at all on carpets or area rugs. This is a very stripped down robot vac.Pros:Does a particularly good job in edging with two side sweepers and a solid wall/edge follow function.Inexpensive compared to the roomba or neatoSmaller than it's roomba & neato counterparts.Decent sized dustbin so fewer stops to empty.Quieter than both the Roomba & Neato. Can pick up larger debris because it vacuums via opening without a brush blocking the intake.Cords, etc don't affect it much due to the lack of brush. Less work prepping the house for vacuuming.Suction power seems close to what a Roomba can pick up, the Neato is more powerful.More responsive than the roomba when it bumps into a wall or piece... 2/5 camomile reviewer "*would like to try out the... Little red snuffles works fine

I like to have this little gadget around. It keeps the carpet in the bedroom nice and goes and cleans under the beds. I also use it in other parts of the house and use a broom stick to restrict it to the kitchen or dining area. It needs baby sitting, as it stops at the slightest resistance. This is good, because therefore it does not get tangled up in electical cords. The filter is easy to clean and the brushes have never become clogged. We don't have pets and I clean up spills with a whisk and dust pan. We also have a shop vac and an upright and still use these to dust the baseboards and get the cobwebs and if I want to get an area done right now. I will buy a second filter assembly to let the other one dry if I clean the filter with water. 4/5 Old Gardener (Medford, Oregon United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) very limited use

I was excited to get this, the idea of two brushes seemed like an advantage over my very loved Roomba. I know that the price of this Dirt Devil product is a fraction of Roomba's, and the stated uses are more limited, but thought I could use it for my upstairs hallway and spare room. Well, when I opened the box, I found an easy to assemble machine. Soon I was ready to turn it on. Well, I hit the switch, and this little vacuum started spinning in circles. Hmmm, not what was supposed to happen, as I read the instructions, but making larger circles is one of its moves, so I thought it would start spreading out. A few minutes later, I returned to see it still spinning in a very small circle. I thought maybe a wheel was stuck, but no. I checked to see if I could have put the battery in wrong, but not possible. I decided to call the company, and things went downhill from there. The representative asked me a few questions, and then told me she doesn't know why it is doing that... 2/5 L. Steiner (nj) - See all my reviews, February 16, 2012

    I would buy it again.

It has rubber wheels, which is good if you don't want to scratch up whatever you are cleaning. The brushes are also soft. Another plus. The suction leaves a lot to be desired. On a hardwood floor the vacuum picks up tiny stuff quite well but will not pick up anything as large as, say, a paper match stick.I'll keep looking for something more powerful.*****UPDATE****I have used this machine for 2 years. It clogs relatively fast. But--I really like this unit. I use it more than my high-suction, larger vac. For routine, spot cleaning and/or a quick run-through, this is really a good unit. Not the strongest suction--but come on--look at it--it is a small, budget unit.I would buy it again. Versatile and great for pet hair

I was pleasantly surprised at the ability of this little vac to pick up pet hair. Removing the handle is accomplished easily to facilitate cleaning pet hair from furniture. The vac can be operated with the revolving brush on or off by selecting the appropriate setting at the switch. It's great for small quick cleanups on carpet or cleaning bare floors. Make no mistake, this is not a replacement for a full-size, full-power vac. As a test I used this product on a section of heavy-traffic carpet that went two weeks without cleaning. It picked up the pet hair fairly well and filled it's dust cup. I then cleaned the same section with a new Bissel Cleanview Bagless upright (I've also written a review for the Bissel). The Bissel picked up enough pet hair, dust and dirt to fill the Eureka's dust cup several times. The dust cup on the Eureka is easy to remove but messy to empty and tapping it to remove the dust results in dust flying everywhere. Keeping in mind what it's designed... 4/5 F. D. Functional, but mediocre performance

I bought this vacuum for my dorm room, and it worked alright on the low carpeting of my room. The suction in addition to the the rolling brush will get most of the dirt off, but you will need several passes. If the dirt or whatever you are trying to vacuum is too concentrated in one area, the vacuum will sweep it forward on the ground, and you'll have to keep passing over, slowly, it before it'll be sucked up.When I brought this home, it also worked on my plush carpeting, but at a severely diminished level. It will require several slow passes to clean properly. However, it will still work. It's small form-factor make it perfect for small areas, such as dorm rooms. However, for larger areas, or for places that you want to get *clean*, I would get a larger, real vacuum. 3/5 Bobby Kwan "office monkey" (Northern Virginia) - See all my reviews, July 12, 2004
