About this book
This volume includes edited and revised versions of the papers delivered and discussed at the recent Advertising and Consumer Psychology Conference. Following the theme of the conference -- "Measuring Advertising Effectiveness" -- the book blends academic psychology, marketing theory, survey methodology, and practical experience, while simultaneously addressing the problems and limitations of advertising. Acknowledging that advertisements are subtle, diverse, complex phenomena that require detailed investigation, this compilation explores the multidimensional nature of advertising's diverse effects from both academic and applied perspectives. Updates on theories and methods -- along with expert commentaries -- help to make this a valuable collection that will be of interest to advertising and marketing specialists and communications experts alike.

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive. The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. What a difference it makes.-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)Cons:-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. The Breeze is a mixe bag(less) of good and not so good

First off, how do you say "mixed bag" about a "bagless" vacuum? Well however you say it, here is my opinion on it - the good and the bad. I purchased mine as a second vac, and despite past nightmares with entry bagless vacs, wanted something I could empty after each occasional use vs. store away with a partly filled bag.On the pro side: This unit is VERY light in weight. Great for those with arthritis or anyone who is carrying a vacuum up and down stairs. What is not lightweight is the power - it definitely has good suction. I also like the slightly narrower width whem compared to most other vacuums - 13" wide vs the more common 15" wide may not seem like much, but this fits in narrow places yet is still a full power vac.On the neutral side: Emptying is easy, but like most entry level bagless units, the filter is a mess to deal with. Best bet is, from time, use a second vac to clean this units filter, or used canned air outside upwind.Attachments are okay... 3/5 A. Maier (Fort Wayne, IN) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2008

Built Like a Tank, Sounds Like One, Too!

I've had my Dirt Devil Breeze for (3?+) years now (Obviously an older version but based on what I see from the picture nothing had changed much.) Bought this as replacement to a previous vacuum cleaner which had the "fan" (not sure if this is the correct word for it) that was in the path of the dirt (I believe that was a hoover). I used it to pick up some solid object and got stuck in the "fan" which caused it to break on me. The design of the breeze was a lot better since the filter catches objects before it gets to the suction mechanism. Overall, does what its supposed to do.Cons:- The exhaust out in front was definitely a design "duh". But you wouldn't realize it till you use it for picking up light material (e.g. small bird feathers).- Is there an easier way to switch from bottom suction to the onboard tools?- Emptying the canister is definitely a hassle (but sames me money in the long run)- *LOUD* And I cannot say this enough. My unit is a... 2/5 M. LAPITAN (Harrisburg, PA) - See all my reviews, December 26, 2008

    Shocked at other reviews

Wow! I'm a little shocked at the bad reviews! I bought this on black friday for $[...] and I LOVE it! I had previously used a swiffer sweep & vac (the battery died and it didn't clean up bigger messes) and then I bought the shark stick vac (one of my kids knocked it over and cracked it). So I purchased this as a third stick vac. I love it. It is very powerful, I don't understand these people saying it doesn't pick up messes. It totally picks up messes big and small!!! We remodeled our kitchen and I used it to vaccumm little sheetrock particles as well as the every day messes my 4, 5 year old kids & 3 year old lab leave behind. I have had some issues finding a new filter at walmart and target but I suspect I will find one easily online. Overall I LOVE this vac. I use it only for my tile areas and yes maybe you do have to empty it semi-often (but I have forgotten about it alot and never had a problem)it works great for cleaning up after my 2 kids and dog. 4/5 Holly Evans "Hevans" (Midland, Tx) - See all my reviews, May 16, 2010

    Great for small jobs

Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great for vacuuming my area rug and hardwood floors. I wouldn't expect this machine to clean up a large mess. Very lightweight, easy to maneuver and much quieter than a full size vac. Nice that it also transforms into a hand vac. In one use it picked up a lot of dust and cat hair that wasn't evident. Definitely a keeper! 4/5 Kath&Chloe "KC" (Beverly Hills, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great little vacuum for small spaces!

I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. When I opened it, and it went together like a lego toy, I was skeptical. But it's amazing!! It's never going to be your only vacuum if you have a big house (the wheel base is small, so you'd be doing a lot of walking back & forth), but if you have a little apartment, or want to keep a seperate vacuum upstairs, or in different rooms of your house, this vacuum is perfect for that! It's basically a hand-held vac, that has a detachable stick-handle, vacuum/wheel base, and crevice tool. Unlike the cordless hand-vacs, it doesn't lose power after 30 seconds, because it's electric. The crevice tool works great, and it's as light weight as one of those kids' toy vacuums. Also, when I emptied it (you will have to empty it pretty much every time you use it, but what do you expect?) I was shocked at how much dirt was in it- I'd just vacuumed with my expensive... 5/5 stefany9579 (Olympia, WA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. Terrific Performer and Outstanding Value

Approximately three years ago, my $200 Eureka vac finally stopped working and I purchased the featherlite to replace it. At that time I lived in a 1,400 sf apartment. Now I live in a 2,500 sft home. For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I've ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.3. Light weight. It's very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It's easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.5. It's got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I've ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.Cons:1. I don't expect it to go past 5 years. works fine after a year

I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses. 4/5 R. McHenry (MN, USA) - See all my reviews, December 19, 2008

Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks

UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend... 1/5 Gerald Balmes "Jerry B" (Washington) - See all my reviews, October 6, 2009

    This is a great product!

I wanted to write this review because there were somenegative reviews which almost caused me not to buy it, but Ibought it anyway. I decided to wait a few months (4),though, to make sure I really liked it.I do.The negative comments were: *********************1) short cord and owners manual says don't use an extensioncord.2) I have COPD, and somebody said emptying the canisterraised a huge cloud of dust.3) Others stated that the exhaust was on the front of themachine and would blow around the debris you were trying topick up, especially on hardwood floors. ***********************1) This sounded weird, so I got out my calculator. A 25 foot14 gauge extension cord added to the 19 foot cord on themachine gives you a 44 foot cord - 88 feet of copper tocomplete the circuit. This gives you - with the 7 amp motor- a voltage drop of... 5/5 M. Johnston "Mike J" (Colorado) - See all my reviews, December 17, 2011

    Pleasantly surprised

My father bought me this vacuum for Christmas since my old hand me down one finally died. I opened the package and was worried that it wouldn't be very strong considering it's size... WOW. UPDATE

UPDATE FOR REVIEW BELOW:Okay...fifteen days before the two year warranty was to expire...it quit charging. With a deep breath, I contacted customer service. I was initially told to take it to the nearest service center which was 45 miles away. I said that was too far for me and was transferred to someone else who promptly gave me instructions to send a clip of the power card and the manufacturer sticker on the back of the vac and they would send a replacement. Exactly six days later, FedEx delivered my replacement vac! I am stunned..this kind of warranty back up just is not seen in America. So, the vac lasted two years which is twice as long as my Shark vac lasted and the prouduct warranty was actually honored by the company! Yes, it can be a bother to have to keep that filter clean, but again, it is a great little helper when it comes to keeping the basement family room picked up and for quick pick up throuhout the house. bought this on amazon to replace my order one... the older one worked great until.. I broke it.... I slammed it against something hard and it broke completely.. don't ask me why... but that happened and I had to replace it with a new one..CONS-the suction isn't the best...user has to hold the vacuum at a specific angle for the suction to be perfect..-only good for small waste and dust... bigger waste tend to stuck and the user has to dig it out with fingers...PROS-the charge time is very short-does not take any room so for people who care about the interior look - this will look fine and sometimes unnoticeable if you put it right beside a little table or in the corner.-easy grip and easy usage-for students and for people with apts (studios to 1 bedroom) this is a very good vacuum !!!for me Iuse it almost everyday to clean out everyday dust and my dog's fur off the floor, and it's a very good product for what... 4/5 Hyun Jun Kim "Josh Kim" (NY, USA) - See all my reviews, December 28, 2009

    Perfect for what it is

This vacuum is perfect for what it is. I like the fact that the Accucharge won't drain the battery like what happened on my Dustbuster. This does need pretty frequent cleaning to keep up the suction, although that's not difficult at all. The Dirt Devil makes a very loud, high pitched noise, especially if it's not 100% clean, but I can totally live with that. It's been so nice to have this to clean up after our shedding dog and dirt from our kid's feet. The rotating brush does help picking up dirt from our carpet. When I first got my Dirt Devil Vacuum I ordered these bags by mistake instead of the "Microfresh" Dirt Devil Bags. These bags are cheaper than the "Microfresh" bags but they are more porous and do not contain small particles as well. Great Little Machine

Bottom line ... this is a great little machine that does the work it's meant to do. I used this machine for a solid 45 minutes while vacuuming two entire floors of my home - including stairs - one of the best parts was that this machine did not over-heat as with other 'bagless' vacuums I've purchased in the recent past (which were put out into the garbage!).I could see that the vacuum was performing from the dust and debris that was entering the dirt cup. My home has all hardwood floors with a "mud" throw at the various entrances. The vacuum works great on hardwood surfaces and also did a nice job on the thin non-slip entrance rugs. Assmebly was a snap ... literally. The vacuum is VERY lightweight which is a big plus in preventing scratches on hardwood. This vacuum also has a very quiet motor - you can actually hear the phone and/or doorbell while you're running the vacuum!Although I'm happy with my purchase and believe this is a great little machine, I... 5/5 Pleased Repeat Customer (New Jersey) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I bought this to clean cat litter off of carpet squares and bare floor tile. At first, it did what I bought it for, but just barely. Don't throw away your $$!

It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. It is very noisy for its size, and you'll have a lot of trouble cleaning the filter - all of the dirt gets on the filter and one has to breathe a lot of dust after opening the cleaner.I could go on with disadvantages until tomorrow, but instead, take more $$ and get yourself a decent vacuum! 1/5 Alex (Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Swift Stick (Kitchen) It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. This is a bait & switch, you will receive a knockoff

The title claims that this filter is "by Dirt Devil." The picture shows a filter by Dirt Devil (green label & writing on top). But what was shipped was a knockoff by Crucial Vacuum. It does fit and works reasonably well, but it is not what was advertised. 1/5 H. Wasti (USA) - See all my reviews, December 19, 2009

It fits and it works great - thanks, Amazon!

Unlike certain other Dirt Devil owners, I checked the make and model number on my sweeper before ordering this filter. It works just fine! If you have one of the models above, don't hesitate to buy this filter.Amazon made this purchase easy. The store in which I bought my Dirt Devil, a large national chain featuring appliances and linens, stopped carrying filters for bagless vacuum cleaners. Rather than having to run all over town looking for the filter, I came on here and found it right away. Thanks, Amazon! 5/5 R. The previous entries didn't check their vacuum cleaners...

After reading the previous reviews, I realized that the three of them all made the same mistake. They didn't check to make sure the filter would be compatible with the year and model of their cleaners. When I decided to buy my filter, I checked www.DirtDevil.com, looked at the sticker at the bottom of my vacuum, and checked three more sites. I only made my purchase after I was positive that I had the correct part. Apparently, the other reviewers did not. Before purchasing anything, make doubly sure it's the correct item. And if you aren't 100% positive, do some reasearch. Five minutes of online web surfing can save you hours of frustration. 5/5 Mike 79 (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil F1 HEPA Filter (Housewares) After reading the previous reviews, I realized that the three of them all made the same mistake. This thing sucks

I got this vacuum for thirty bucks so keep that in mind. There are units out there that cost ten times that. So how does the Dynamite Plus stack up? It sucks! Very, very well. I don't think I have ever used a vaccum that had such powerful suction. I bought a Dirt Devil cordless unit (the one that no one seems to like) about a year ago and it was garbage. I wondered if anyone really needed cordless while in the confines of their own home. Most likely not. Why not trade the dubious benefits of cordless for maximum sucking power? For the price there is proably no vacuum made that is more powerful. So why only 4 stars? Despite a vacuum that seems well built, convenient, light, bagless, portable, etc., there is one thing that is insanely ridiculous about the Dynamite Plus' design. All of that powerful suckiing power shoots right out a front grill of the vacuum. Like a tornado!!!! The first time I used it was in the kitchen it it literally blew all of the photos and notes off my... 4/5 PhotoGraphics (Arizona) - See all my reviews, December 6, 2007

    Good for small spaces

You really can't beat the price for the quality and ability of this little vacuum cleaner. But beware, it is little, best for smaller spaces or an apartment. The suction and hose attachment function well. It's very portable and easy to remove the canister. Although getting all the debris out of it takes a good amount of shaking. All in all a nice option if you don't have a lot of square footage and want a light, little cleaner. 3/5 HelpfulInfo "D" (Mahwah, NJ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) As Good As Recommended

Haven't had the unit long enough to be very critical. The unit is only 7 amps but seems to pick up dirt like a 10 amp, lots of power to work the brush's and suck up the dirt. So far it seems to be a good value for the money.**** CAUTION:Amazon recommended purchasing replacementbelt and filter with the Dynamite vaccum except that they recommended the WRONG belt and filter. Having not purchased the Dynamite before I went with what Amazon recommended which turned out to be the F-12 belt and F-1 Hepa Filter which are incorrect. The Dynamite vaccum uses a F-15 belt and a F-2 Hepa Filter so be very careful to order the correct belt and filter if you decide to order this vaccum...do not rely on Amazon's recommendations or their customer service. 4/5 usgabear - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Couldn't find this product in Target, Walmart, Fry's, even the local vacuum store!Well played, Amazon. The internet triumphs again! 5/5 A. Ameen (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews, May 3, 2009

Works as expected, vacuum sucks again.

Switched a way overdue filter with one of these, and the vacuum started sucking again, which is great as it hadn't sucked well in a long time. 5/5 Philippe Sabourin (Raleigh, NC USA) - See all my reviews, November 17, 2009
