    Powerful and lightweight

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive. The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. We have over 1500 sq ft of carpeted areas and steps so I put the new vacuum to work.Pros:-- Price (and I also used a gift certificate) - sweet!-- Lightweight! What a difference it makes.-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)Cons:-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. The Breeze is a mixe bag(less) of good and not so good

First off, how do you say "mixed bag" about a "bagless" vacuum? Well however you say it, here is my opinion on it - the good and the bad. I purchased mine as a second vac, and despite past nightmares with entry bagless vacs, wanted something I could empty after each occasional use vs. store away with a partly filled bag.On the pro side: This unit is VERY light in weight. Great for those with arthritis or anyone who is carrying a vacuum up and down stairs. What is not lightweight is the power - it definitely has good suction. I also like the slightly narrower width whem compared to most other vacuums - 13" wide vs the more common 15" wide may not seem like much, but this fits in narrow places yet is still a full power vac.On the neutral side: Emptying is easy, but like most entry level bagless units, the filter is a mess to deal with. Best bet is, from time, use a second vac to clean this units filter, or used canned air outside upwind.Attachments are okay... 3/5 A. Maier (Fort Wayne, IN) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2008

Built Like a Tank, Sounds Like One, Too!

I've had my Dirt Devil Breeze for (3?+) years now (Obviously an older version but based on what I see from the picture nothing had changed much.) Bought this as replacement to a previous vacuum cleaner which had the "fan" (not sure if this is the correct word for it) that was in the path of the dirt (I believe that was a hoover). I used it to pick up some solid object and got stuck in the "fan" which caused it to break on me. The design of the breeze was a lot better since the filter catches objects before it gets to the suction mechanism. Overall, does what its supposed to do.Cons:- The exhaust out in front was definitely a design "duh". But you wouldn't realize it till you use it for picking up light material (e.g. small bird feathers).- Is there an easier way to switch from bottom suction to the onboard tools?- Emptying the canister is definitely a hassle (but sames me money in the long run)- *LOUD* And I cannot say this enough. My unit is a... 2/5 M. LAPITAN (Harrisburg, PA) - See all my reviews, December 26, 2008

    UPDATE

UPDATE FOR REVIEW BELOW:Okay...fifteen days before the two year warranty was to expire...it quit charging. With a deep breath, I contacted customer service. I was initially told to take it to the nearest service center which was 45 miles away. I said that was too far for me and was transferred to someone else who promptly gave me instructions to send a clip of the power card and the manufacturer sticker on the back of the vac and they would send a replacement. Exactly six days later, FedEx delivered my replacement vac! I am stunned..this kind of warranty back up just is not seen in America. So, the vac lasted two years which is twice as long as my Shark vac lasted and the prouduct warranty was actually honored by the company! Yes, it can be a bother to have to keep that filter clean, but again, it is a great little helper when it comes to keeping the basement family room picked up and for quick pick up throuhout the house. Thank you Dirt Devil for a great product... 5/5 D. Ackley (Easton, PA) - See all my reviews, December 7, 2009

my favorite vacuum cleaner for about 2 yrs now...

bought this on amazon to replace my order one... the older one worked great until.. I broke it.... I slammed it against something hard and it broke completely.. don't ask me why... but that happened and I had to replace it with a new one..CONS-the suction isn't the best...user has to hold the vacuum at a specific angle for the suction to be perfect..-only good for small waste and dust... bigger waste tend to stuck and the user has to dig it out with fingers...PROS-the charge time is very short-does not take any room so for people who care about the interior look - this will look fine and sometimes unnoticeable if you put it right beside a little table or in the corner.-easy grip and easy usage-for students and for people with apts (studios to 1 bedroom) this is a very good vacuum !!!for me Iuse it almost everyday to clean out everyday dust and my dog's fur off the floor, and it's a very good product for what... 4/5 Hyun Jun Kim "Josh Kim" (NY, USA) - See all my reviews, December 28, 2009

    Perfect for what it is

This vacuum is perfect for what it is. I like the fact that the Accucharge won't drain the battery like what happened on my Dustbuster. This does need pretty frequent cleaning to keep up the suction, although that's not difficult at all. The Dirt Devil makes a very loud, high pitched noise, especially if it's not 100% clean, but I can totally live with that. It's been so nice to have this to clean up after our shedding dog and dirt from our kid's feet. The rotating brush does help picking up dirt from our carpet. We use this vacuum almost daily. 4/5 krispin "krispin" (Berkeley, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The sleeper gift hit of the season!

My son received this as a Christmas gift when he was 18 months old. He played with it for SIX HOURS straight. We even had to take it with us on our visits later in the day because he would not leave it behind. "Being like mom/dad" is so important at that age and this I attribute to the popularity. The fact that it also teaches my son that his masculinity will not shrivel if he touches a vacuum cleaner (!) is an educational plus for me. The *only* downfall of this toy is that it is not particularly durable. Both myself and a friend own it and both found that the front cover began to detach almost immediately and eventually had to be taped on. The hose also fell off. So much so that now, not quite two years later - if I want one for my now 18 month old daughter, we will need a new one. .... 5/5 K. Foster Seabolt "Author: "Life Out Loud... Great for kids!!

My son got this as a gift when he was 2. He refused to open another gift at the party and began trying to rip the box open to get the vacuum out! That would have been enough, but he would use that vacuum all over the house, even attaching MY vacuum's attachments to the hose and "cleaning" the crevices. He is almost four and still loves to "vacuum" with me. The toy held up pretty well, considering it's been 2 years. The hose attachment broke and doesn't stay on anymore, but he doesn't care. When he was smaller and completely enthralled we would pack the vacuum with us on visits and even vacations, but the novelty has since passed. I think he has learned a bit about tidiness and that cleaning can be more fun than it looks. I know it is more fun for me, chasing him with my vacuum while I clean up the floor. Now my sister is asking for one for her 18 month old for Christmas. I highly recommend this toy. 2/5 Veronica Rundell (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews = Durability:, November 15, 2000

My two year old son LOVES this toy!

My son received this toy as a gift when he was about twenty months old and I must say that it is definitely one of his favorite toys. He was so fascinated by the real vacuum cleaner and now he actually feels as though he is really vacuuming. He reaches for his toy vacuum first thing every morning and it definitely occupies him for long periods of time. The nice thing is it is so durable and easy to use. I love the button that can be pressed to make noise(and it's not loud either) that makes it seem even more like a real vacuum. There are not all that many toys that he loves the way he loves this one and I can see him enjoying it for many years to come. It is also very inexpensive and is well worth the money. 5/5 Allison R Zimri (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews = Durability:, May 16, 2004

Very good quality name brand filter

I was reluctant to purchase the Honeywell filter for my Dirt Devil because of the review stating it was shipped in white paper. I ordered two, both came in the standard Honeywell packaging pictured, so I was very glad about that. These filters used to be sold by Walmart for about $20. The filters are much better quality than the ones Walmart is selling now (Arm & Hammer) for the same $20. These Honeywell filters are the closest ones I have found to the originals and they are good for one year as opposed to six months for Arm & Hammer filters. And this is the cheapest price I have found for a good quality filter. 5/5 L. J. DeGaris (Florida) - See all my reviews, January 4, 2010

What kind of filter is this?

When i recieved my filter it was not in a honeywell package. It was wrapped in white paper and just put in the box. I have no idea what kind of filter it is. However, it works perfectly and i received it on time and was also pleased with that. This is also my second review. the best replacement filter

I tried other filters offered in my local store before finding this one on Amazon. I had used this brand before and liked it best, but it was no longer available in my local shopping spots. (rural area, limited choices) Unfortunately, my vacuum cleaner bit the proverbial dust before I even got a chance to use this filter. So it is sitting around collecting dust in another fashion. Still, I find it the best by far of all the ones I used over the years. 5/5 W. Peterson "creative cook" (Ashville, NY United States) - See all my reviews, December 20, 2010

    This thing sucks

I got this vacuum for thirty bucks so keep that in mind. There are units out there that cost ten times that. So how does the Dynamite Plus stack up? It sucks! Very, very well. I don't think I have ever used a vaccum that had such powerful suction. I bought a Dirt Devil cordless unit (the one that no one seems to like) about a year ago and it was garbage. I wondered if anyone really needed cordless while in the confines of their own home. Most likely not. Why not trade the dubious benefits of cordless for maximum sucking power? For the price there is proably no vacuum made that is more powerful. So why only 4 stars? Despite a vacuum that seems well built, convenient, light, bagless, portable, etc., there is one thing that is insanely ridiculous about the Dynamite Plus' design. All of that powerful suckiing power shoots right out a front grill of the vacuum. Like a tornado!!!! The first time I used it was in the kitchen it it literally blew all of the photos and notes off my... 4/5 PhotoGraphics (Arizona) - See all my reviews, December 6, 2007

    Good for small spaces

You really can't beat the price for the quality and ability of this little vacuum cleaner. But beware, it is little, best for smaller spaces or an apartment. The suction and hose attachment function well. It's very portable and easy to remove the canister. Although getting all the debris out of it takes a good amount of shaking. All in all a nice option if you don't have a lot of square footage and want a light, little cleaner. 3/5 HelpfulInfo "D" (Mahwah, NJ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) As Good As Recommended

Haven't had the unit long enough to be very critical. The unit is only 7 amps but seems to pick up dirt like a 10 amp, lots of power to work the brush's and suck up the dirt. So far it seems to be a good value for the money.**** CAUTION:Amazon recommended purchasing replacementbelt and filter with the Dynamite vaccum except that they recommended the WRONG belt and filter. Having not purchased the Dynamite before I went with what Amazon recommended which turned out to be the F-12 belt and F-1 Hepa Filter which are incorrect. The Dynamite vaccum uses a F-15 belt and a F-2 Hepa Filter so be very careful to order the correct belt and filter if you decide to order this vaccum...do not rely on Amazon's recommendations or their customer service. 4/5 usgabear - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good start to your cleaning

This is my first steam cleaner. I just know that when I clean the hotter the water the better (and easier) the cleaning. So I have thought about steam cleaners alot. The one thing that have come to realize is that most of these are just steamers not steam cleaners. What I mean by this is all that is used is water, so you will still have to soap up the surfaces before steaming. (Now I use the Lysol Antibacterial - not for the antibacterial so much but it is the best grease cutter I have ever seen!)Under the tank is a holder for a number of attachments from three small brushes (one of them metal) to a window attachment. So make sure you look for these. The large floor attachment and hose and extension are in the box with the canister. The floor attachement hooks directly onto the hose/extension but the other attachments just fit over the nozzle and occasionally fall of during use.I used this to clean my kitchen over the weekend, including cabinet... 3/5 Movie Mania "DVD Collector" (Southern Calfornia) - See all my reviews, November 14, 2011

I have tried other Steam mops. Shark's steam was good but built with low quality materials and the plastic broke just assembling it. Steam fast mop never worked, period. Dirt Devil Steam Canister

I really wanted to love this machine, because I have so many uses for it, but unfortunately, I don't. I'll start will all the PRO's of this machine. Compact size, VERY easy to use, easy storage, clever design for tool storage, large wheels for maneuvering around easy, and a variety of cleaning tools. The CON's are more important to the purchase. The steam is very wet, which makes using the steamer messy. The hose fills with condensation quickly at each pause, and then spits water all over when you begin again. The tools look like they came from a toy set and did not hold up under use. The tools are really poor quality. I know the steamer is under $100.00, but it really should perform better than it did. 2/5 D. Bearss "Bookdweller" (USA) - See all my reviews, September 29, 2011

I bought this vacuum because it was compared to the Dyson, but anyone who has ever owned a Dyson knows that the Dirt Devil Reaction does not come close to the suction power of the Dyson. This vacuum is not worth the price and constantly looses suction while vacuuming. The bagless canister connects to the vacuum, plastic to plastic with no rubber in between to keep the suction well. If you like dirt...

I purchased this vac about a year ago after owning a typical upright with a bag. At first, I thought it was great! It was powerful and I loved the small spinning brush attachment for doing stairs & furniture. Then it came time to empty it. I'm not sure what the problem was with the good ol' bag vacs, when it was full you put the bag in the garbage and replaced it. It took about 2 seconds and you didn't have to see OR touch the dirt. Well those days are gone, apparently it's better to SEE the dirt. Touch the dirt. Put your arms in the chamber up to your elbows so you can pull out the stuck dirt. How is this better? Then you have to rinse off the filter which requires touching & seeing more dirt. When it gets full or something gets stuck, it loses suction, just like the bag vacs did. I know this isn't a Dyson, but if it's full, it's full. Which is going to inhibit the vacs ability to suck in more right? I don't get the cyclonic thing either. The things spin around and guess... 3/5 J. Zweifel (Waterford, WI) - See all my reviews, August 5, 2008

    Do not purchase this Devil!

I am soooo disappointed in this product. It is bulky, has poor suction and overheats half way thru the job. My home is 1600 sq feet and it stops from overheating before I can finish and most of the area is on laminate floor so stress on high pile carpet would not be a problem. It takes about 45 min. for the Devil!! to recuperate. I had an Oreck for many years and decided to go bagless. I looked at Dyson and against my better judgement went to the Reaction. That was a bad reaction on my part. The belt situation for this vac is the only thing that sucks! I am giving this machine away when the charity truck comes by next week. I am going to get the Dyson ASAP. Live and learn. Run of the mill Hoover is better than this. Don't waste your money. 1/5 B. Cain - See all my reviews, May 6, 2007

1995 DIRT DEVIL upright vacuum cleaner motor blows up.

It made that funny sound on Christmas night when I tried to vacuum my bedroom floor & I can smell the motor starting to burn ... It's toast.
