About this book
This volume includes edited and revised versions of the papers delivered and discussed at the recent Advertising and Consumer Psychology Conference. Following the theme of the conference -- "Measuring Advertising Effectiveness" -- the book blends academic psychology, marketing theory, survey methodology, and practical experience, while simultaneously addressing the problems and limitations of advertising. Acknowledging that advertisements are subtle, diverse, complex phenomena that require detailed investigation, this compilation explores the multidimensional nature of advertising's diverse effects from both academic and applied perspectives. Updates on theories and methods -- along with expert commentaries -- help to make this a valuable collection that will be of interest to advertising and marketing specialists and communications experts alike.

    Shocked at other reviews

Wow! I'm a little shocked at the bad reviews! I bought this on black friday for $[...] and I LOVE it! I had previously used a swiffer sweep & vac (the battery died and it didn't clean up bigger messes) and then I bought the shark stick vac (one of my kids knocked it over and cracked it). So I purchased this as a third stick vac. I love it. It is very powerful, I don't understand these people saying it doesn't pick up messes. It totally picks up messes big and small!!! We remodeled our kitchen and I used it to vaccumm little sheetrock particles as well as the every day messes my 4, 5 year old kids & 3 year old lab leave behind. I have had some issues finding a new filter at walmart and target but I suspect I will find one easily online. Overall I LOVE this vac. I use it only for my tile areas and yes maybe you do have to empty it semi-often (but I have forgotten about it alot and never had a problem)it works great for cleaning up after my 2 kids and dog. 4/5 Holly Evans "Hevans" (Midland, Tx) - See all my reviews, May 16, 2010

    Great for small jobs

Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great for vacuuming my area rug and hardwood floors. I wouldn't expect this machine to clean up a large mess. Very lightweight, easy to maneuver and much quieter than a full size vac. Nice that it also transforms into a hand vac. In one use it picked up a lot of dust and cat hair that wasn't evident. Definitely a keeper! 4/5 Kath&Chloe "KC" (Beverly Hills, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) Got this on sale at Target for $10 (Black Friday) and it's a decent little machine. Great little vacuum for small spaces!

I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. When I opened it, and it went together like a lego toy, I was skeptical. But it's amazing!! It's never going to be your only vacuum if you have a big house (the wheel base is small, so you'd be doing a lot of walking back & forth), but if you have a little apartment, or want to keep a seperate vacuum upstairs, or in different rooms of your house, this vacuum is perfect for that! It's basically a hand-held vac, that has a detachable stick-handle, vacuum/wheel base, and crevice tool. Unlike the cordless hand-vacs, it doesn't lose power after 30 seconds, because it's electric. The crevice tool works great, and it's as light weight as one of those kids' toy vacuums. Also, when I emptied it (you will have to empty it pretty much every time you use it, but what do you expect?) I was shocked at how much dirt was in it- I'd just vacuumed with my expensive... 5/5 stefany9579 (Olympia, WA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil SD20000RED Simpli-Stik All-in-One Stick Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I got this vacuum on one of those Black Friday deals, and wasn't expecting much, since it was so cheap, & the box was so light. Powerful and lightweight

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive. The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. We have over 1500 sq ft of carpeted areas and steps so I put the new vacuum to work.Pros:-- Price (and I also used a gift certificate) - sweet!-- Lightweight! What a difference it makes.-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)Cons:-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. But it's cool how you plug-and-twist the hose in... 5/5 customer (Longmont, Colorado) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Breeze is a mixe bag(less) of good and not so good

First off, how do you say "mixed bag" about a "bagless" vacuum? Well however you say it, here is my opinion on it - the good and the bad. I purchased mine as a second vac, and despite past nightmares with entry bagless vacs, wanted something I could empty after each occasional use vs. store away with a partly filled bag.On the pro side: This unit is VERY light in weight. Great for those with arthritis or anyone who is carrying a vacuum up and down stairs. What is not lightweight is the power - it definitely has good suction. I also like the slightly narrower width whem compared to most other vacuums - 13" wide vs the more common 15" wide may not seem like much, but this fits in narrow places yet is still a full power vac.On the neutral side: Emptying is easy, but like most entry level bagless units, the filter is a mess to deal with. Best bet is, from time, use a second vac to clean this units filter, or used canned air outside upwind.Attachments are okay... 3/5 A. Maier (Fort Wayne, IN) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2008

Built Like a Tank, Sounds Like One, Too!

I've had my Dirt Devil Breeze for (3?+) years now (Obviously an older version but based on what I see from the picture nothing had changed much.) Bought this as replacement to a previous vacuum cleaner which had the "fan" (not sure if this is the correct word for it) that was in the path of the dirt (I believe that was a hoover). I used it to pick up some solid object and got stuck in the "fan" which caused it to break on me. The design of the breeze was a lot better since the filter catches objects before it gets to the suction mechanism. Overall, does what its supposed to do.Cons:- The exhaust out in front was definitely a design "duh". But you wouldn't realize it till you use it for picking up light material (e.g. small bird feathers).- Is there an easier way to switch from bottom suction to the onboard tools?- Emptying the canister is definitely a hassle (but sames me money in the long run)- *LOUD* And I cannot say this enough. My unit is a... 2/5 M. LAPITAN (Harrisburg, PA) - See all my reviews, December 26, 2008

    Great Little Machine

Bottom line ... this is a great little machine that does the work it's meant to do. I used this machine for a solid 45 minutes while vacuuming two entire floors of my home - including stairs - one of the best parts was that this machine did not over-heat as with other 'bagless' vacuums I've purchased in the recent past (which were put out into the garbage!).I could see that the vacuum was performing from the dust and debris that was entering the dirt cup. My home has all hardwood floors with a "mud" throw at the various entrances. The vacuum works great on hardwood surfaces and also did a nice job on the thin non-slip entrance rugs. Assmebly was a snap ... literally. The vacuum is VERY lightweight which is a big plus in preventing scratches on hardwood. This vacuum also has a very quiet motor - you can actually hear the phone and/or doorbell while you're running the vacuum!Although I'm happy with my purchase and believe this is a great little machine, I... 5/5 Pleased Repeat Customer (New Jersey) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not good enough

I bought this to clean cat litter off of carpet squares and bare floor tile. At first, it did what I bought it for, but just barely. After about two weeks, it began to act like it was full even though it wasn't and would leave a pile of cat litter when shut off. Maybe the filter was clogged, but it looked fine me. 1/5 S. Don't throw away your $$!

It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. It is very noisy for its size, and you'll have a lot of trouble cleaning the filter - all of the dirt gets on the filter and one has to breathe a lot of dust after opening the cleaner.I could go on with disadvantages until tomorrow, but instead, take more $$ and get yourself a decent vacuum! 1/5 Alex (Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Swift Stick (Kitchen) It may seem that this vacuum cleaner costs less than others but it's definitely not worth it, even as a children's vacuum. So far so good...

After an issue with our Shark pet hand vac not being able to charge anymore, we found this. I am not particularly fond of the color red in general and we all know DD's are a very bright, blinding red. I have used it before the 24 hour charge period, and naturally it began to die on me. Why its not almost fully charged already concerns me, to say the least. I do not recall receiving the brush attachment with the product.Pros:It seems to pick up nicely and have good suction power for the price. The filter is washable and so is the dirt cup.The charging port is on the back of the handle, not on the underside like other products.. Pathetic.

This vacuum doesnt have a lot of power to begin with, and requires 24hrs to charge- for which the user is rewarded with approximately 30min. of actual, useable suction time. It also requires the user to FULLY drain all charge from the battery in order to fully charge again (or you'll have even less suction for even less time!) This process takes about 20min AFTER the vacuum has so little suction that any debris is only being moved, not removed. Enjoy listening to it slowly wind down before you charge it for 200 times the amount of time you can spend cleaning up messes. Add to this already awesome list of features the tiny capacity of the dustbin, and my assessment of this product is: utterly pathetic, not worth the money or the time, and quite useless. Keep your $50 and start saving for a dyson. 1/5 SETH B - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil BD10165 Gator 15.6-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner with Detachable Brushroll (Kitchen) This vacuum doesnt have a lot of power to begin with, and requires 24hrs to charge- for which the user is rewarded with approximately 30min. of actual, useable suction time. works fine after a year

I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses. 4/5 R. McHenry (MN, USA) - See all my reviews, December 19, 2008

Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks

UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend... 1/5 Gerald Balmes "Jerry B" (Washington) - See all my reviews, October 6, 2009

    Good product

Update 06/16/10=is performing consist and pick up is better than most handhelds.I previously owned a Shark 15 volt with roller brush. It is getting old so I am shifting it to car clean up only. So when I shopped for a replacement, it was down to The Euro Pro Shark 16.9 volt with motorized brush or this one. I could not find the Dirt Devil in a store to look at, but did look at the Euro Pro in the store.I purchased the Dirt Devil because it had higher volts, the crevice tool is attached, and it is supposedly easier to empty the cup. However, this DD does not have the immediate power suction my old 15 volt Shark has. You have to be more methodical about it, and run the thing slower over the areas. It picks up good though. The Euro Pro has more bristles.I like the attached crevice tool, one less thing to keep up with.I really can't see the big deal that it is easier to empty the cup. 4/5 Mary B. poor suction power

I am really disappointed in this product. Although the vacuum sounds like it has alot of suction power, it really doesnt. I have to go over the area that i am trying to pick up some dirt several times. it almost gets to the point that it is easier to pick up or sweep up the dirt/item. This is while it is fully charged. 1/5 jah006 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Power to spare

This unit is so powerful it nearly jumps out of your hand when you hit the on button, and it leaves NOTHING behind. Picking up little crumbs and things from a carpet, it doesn't wait for the nozzle to suck it up, but starts sucking when the nozzle is about an inch away. This replaces a Dustbuster that's 20 years old. I've had an upright lightweight Dirt Devil for years that's served me well, and I'm hopeful this will do the same. I haven't used the brush yet except to see if it runs. I also haven't used it long enough to judge the endurance of the battery, but so far it's fine. Yes, it makes some noise. You can avoid the noise by getting a less powerful unit, but I think most people use cordless vacuums only a few minutes at a time, so the noise should be bearable for such brief use. 5/5 Michael Everett (Santa Monica) - See all my reviews, January 23, 2011

I agree with every review, FANTASTIC product!!!

This is the most powerful little vacuum I've ever had, The most ingenious invention is the little retractable crevice tool. In my whole life I've never attached a crevice tool even when I needed it just out of laziness. This just sucks up dust immediately in between anything. It doesn't hold alot of dust so after each use I just take an old dish/pot brush and brush off the filter. The dust sticks to the cloth filter and will not come off just by tapping it along side your garbage pail like the instructions say. Takes a minute and is well worth it as this is more powerful than my canister vacuum. I started to use it on a small area of my living room rug where lint always sticks at the entrance and ended up doing the whole rug and went on to other rooms. You'll love this powerful little sucker and end up writing a great review like I just did! 5/5 Crystal "AMAZON FAN" (Brooklyn, N.Y. USA) - See all my reviews, May 14, 2010

I'm amazed at how well this works!

I got myself a Dirt Devil KURVE off [...] about a year or so ago and never quite liked it. Sure it picked up some dust and crumbs, but always felt like it didn't have enough juice. Not being one to care whether or not it was cordless or corded, I got fed up and decided to check Amazon for a better vaccuum. After reading the reviews for this model (most are found on the older Scorpion model, but its the same machine overall), I decided to bite the bullet and get it - I mean for the price, you can't go wrong.Got it today, opened it up and plugged it in - used the handy extension and OMG. OMG. What suction for such a tiny little vaccuum. It started picking up things several inches away from the nozzle. Now me, I'm messy when I eat at my desk. I also smoke cigarettes so ash gets everywhere and crumbs get all in the keyboard, etc.. A few swipes with this baby and there wasn't a crumb or ash in sight. Decided to go nuts and walk around my entire... 5/5 Miss Linda (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Greatest Little Vac

This product is superior by design. I am not a real fan of some of the Dirt Devil products but they really got this one down pat. The vacuum is superior to any other that I have ever had in this category. The nose in the front that flips down gets into all those tuff places in your car seats. The filter is easy to clean and there are replacements available. I do like the very long cord that comes with this vac. Some others have a little cord that really is a sorry way to do things. The attachments work well for different applications. A great little vacuum is all I can say! 5/5 Bbt (Charlotte, N.C. Inexpensive and powerful

This is a very basic vacuum that does one thing well: clean. The brushes are so powerful that the movement forward is effortless, while the movement backward (toward you) drags, a bit. This DD is light and easily carried up/down stairs. It is just as strong as the wide range of vacuums by Eureka, Hoover, etc that fall in the $125 range. But this DD is very basic. It would work well as a primary vacuum or a secondary one that is used only on one floor or in a summer home. In either case, a good vacuum at a great price. 5/5 Peter G Levine - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil UD40235 Ultra Swivel Glide Bagless Upright (Kitchen) This is a very basic vacuum that does one thing well: clean. great for the money!

I love love love this vacuum. never knew how much dirt was in my carpet until I used it. This thing is very powerful. I have 2 cats and it just pulls the cat hair to it. I've had other dirt devils and none have worked as well on hard wood floors as this one which is odd since this is the least expensive of all of the dirt devils I've owned. The only thing I don't like about this vacuum is you have to hook and unhook the hose and the hose is way too short even with the extender. If you want an inexpensive vacuum with very good pick up power even on hard wood floors, this is the one. 4/5 angie27171 (Camden, NJ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Takes a lot of energy...

I have a low-pile shag carpet, and was really surprised (from reading other reviews) that this vacuum was hard to manuever. It did a good job cleaning, but just vacuuming my one bedroom apartment would leave me exhausted and sweaty! It likes one direction on the carpet, but not the other direction. Easy to clean, but not without getting dusty yourself. I've now purchased the Shark Navigator, fingers crossed, and will give this to my daughter when she gets her own place -- she's young enough to do the workout needed ;-) I'm a young 51, but really, vacuuming doesn't need to be this much work. Also, don't like that I have to attach the hose every time I want to use it. 3/5 C. Crest "Caitness" (West Coast, USA) - See all my reviews, July 7, 2010

    Good Starter Steam Mop

I bought this steam mop because I starting seeing them everywhere and curiosity got the best of me. I have no real complaints about this mop because based on the price, it does what it should.I use it on tile, hardwood, and stick on laminate flooring. It works great on the tile and laminate/hardwood floor. However, on the stick on flooring, the mop has a tendency to stick, which is probably because the heat from the mop start to melt the stick on flooring. When pushing the mop, it stays in contact with the floor but when pulling it back, it lifts from the floor. I have no issue with this and I simply modified my strokes and speed to account for it. The first time I used the mop, my floors were very wet but each subsequent session has proven to be right on target. The floors take less than one minute to dry.I love that the pads are washable and that there are no chemicals involved. I use the mop every 2 to 3 weeks and it always makes my house smell... 4/5 Carolyn "Carolyn" (Orlando, Fl) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil PD20000B Easy Steam Deluxe 1500-Watt Steam Mop with Bonus Pads (Kitchen) I bought this steam mop because I starting seeing them everywhere and curiosity got the best of me. GOOD STEAM MOP

i was looking at other steam mops, like the ever so popular shark, but to my research and family experiance they arn;t that great..my grandmother has gone through 2 of them because the hose that shoots the steam out hte bottom keeps exploding inside of the machine. And i know this because ive take it apart and you can see the hose is just split verticly down the middle, and its done it on 2 different sharks (same model), only after a couple of months of use. so after that i said i wouldn't buy one. So i bought this steam mop about 2 months ago...and it is still doing a great job...it cleans the floors without using chemicals. the one i got was the DELUXE one, it comes with 2 mop pads and one dust type one with microfiber fingers on it, it also came with the carpet glider...i use it for everything i even ajust it to the lowest small handle setting so it is compact size, and i do my coffee table and couches, because the steam has that germ killing ability. the reason for my 4 star... 4/5 Amber Varga "amber" (Cornelia,GA) - See all my reviews, March 3, 2010

    Hard to push

At first, I was excited to find a steam mop that was a good price, and because Dirt devil products are normally great, I felt that this mop would be a good fit. The mop was hard to push and pull. It would flop up when pulling back which caused too much water to left. If this mop was easier to push, and did not flop up when pulling back, I would prefer this mop over a shark. 3/5 T.Walker (Georgia, GA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Product - Confusing Product Information

When trying to decide if this model (3670G) was the right vacuum for me, I found a considerable amount of confusing information regarding it's features on the internet..and from the manufacturer itself. First of all, many online retailers flat out state (inaccurately) that this model has a "HEPA" (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter and at least one of the reviews for it here on Amazon (at least as of this writing) seems to indicate that it has one as well. I can tell you outright that having checked with the manufacturer directly and now owning one myself that it does *NOT* have a "HEPA" filter. More on that a little later in this review however.I found another confusing aspect of the description is in the model number (i.e. 3670G). Be careful to understand the difference between what Amazon calls the 3670 (also called the 3670A in some places) and the 3670*G* models. They look identical and appear to be identical (both are yellow and black) however the 3670 only has... 4/5 Aficianado, "Music, Film and Book Lover" (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews When trying to decide if this model (3670G) was the right vacuum for me, I found a considerable amount of confusing information regarding it's features on the internet..and from the manufacturer itself. Mighty Vacuum

After our quite old Eureka canister vacuum had finally gone belly up, we were looking for an appropriate replacement. Because this was needed primarily for cleaning hardwood floors, there were a few critical criteria. It had to be strong, yet compact in size. It should not be too loud, and the tool assortment should be appropriate for floors and vacuuming cat hair of various furniture items. Finally, we did not want to have to mess around with cleaning out bagless vacuum containers. The Eureka Mighty Mite 3670 came through with flying colors on all fronts. It produces a powerful vacuum, easily maneuverable, convenient for storing, the noise is not too bad, and a good price. This vacuum cleaner gives an excellent value, and, certainly, gets the job done that we bought it for. 5/5 A. Silverstone (Durham, NC USA) - See all my reviews, June 4, 2005
