About this book

This is the Erector Spykee Micro & NOT the WiFi Erector Spykee Spy Robot
Amazon has mistakenly put a video presentation on this selling page for the WiFi Erector Spykee Spy Robot and NOT the Erector Spykee Micro product which is what is being sold on this page. If you want the WiFi, you need to search for Erector Spykee Spy Robot which presently sells for over $245. This one doesn't have all the bells and whistles the WiFi does, but does offer a substantial savings over its counterpart and is fun for the entire family. 5/5 Proud Mommy "Proud Mommy" (New York) - See all my reviews = Durability:, December 14, 2008May not be the large advanced one, but it is a neat little robot!
Of course this little guy will get bad reviews when he is expected to be the larger more advanced version (ah assumptions, whatever happened to reading the details before a purchase?)....he is a small version of the large high-tech robot and has less function, but is still really cool to a child without overdone high technology expectations. I like that the child can build it himself, or with help depending on their level. He has a remote control, makes sounds including a giggling sound, lights up, spins, and runs around on a level floor. He's not too big but not too small...about 8" tall. My 11 year old adores him. 5/5 JC (USA) - See all my reviews = Durability:, January 6, 2010enjoyed the toy

Lots of Fun but needs work in a few areas
I got one of these from Toys R Us for Christmas. Here's my review of it. 1st the instructions could have been written better. (a lot Better)After spending 3 hours to get it together its a lot of fun. being able to control it from anywhere via wi-fi is cool. There is a slight curve in learning to maneuver it around without tipping it over (once its tipped your done if you are remotely controlling it) all in all its a pretty cool toy, yes, just a toy, that said here's what I'd like to see improved in the next version or maybe just an update to this.1 The camera, there's no zoom, pan, tilt or rotate on this so what you see when controlling it is strait ahead. Seems like this would have been and easy addition since there are already web cams out that can do this2 the arms, the arms, they do nothing, can we get some arms that maybe pick things up? or maybe even assist when the thing is tipped over.3 The Sound, the volume is not very good, if your in a quiet room yes you... 4/5 Garth Gerold Jones (dallas, Tx) - See all my reviews, December 29, 2008Spykee's Fun, With A Little To Be Desired...
My wife ended up buying this for me (after recommendation from myself) and I was very excited. The first thing I did after receiving it was to put the base into the charger. The unit arrives uncharged, so I strongly recommend starting with this step. The next thing you will notice, is that you have a box full of bags of parts, and nothing that looks like a robot. The base turns out to be one of the last pieces you will use, which means most of the assembly can commence while the charging is occurring.Assembly is somewhat tedious, though not overly difficult if you take your time. It will take you an hour or two, to do, so make sure not to get overly anxious as there is a lot of work between receiving and using. The most difficult part seems to be the wireless configuration. There are a lot of rules to follow, a few of which may require you to reconfigure your home wireless network. Spykee doesn't like spaces or special characters in... 4/5 R. Thompson (Camarillo, CA) - See all my reviews, August 21, 2009Lots of fun and possibilities!
Pretty good fun. It didnt take me too long assemble Spykee and after alot of button pushing/page turning this thing does work as advertised. I have no problems accessing and controlling the robot in local or remote modes. My wife likes to follow me around the house with it while she is in class. You can skpe using a regular usb headset( I use the one from my PS2), and its rather cool. It would be nice if Spykee's arms moved though. It is and Erector product so its compatible with Eretor pieces. I have even done a few low-tech modifications using a reciever and a few servos from one of my rc helicopters giving Spykee mobility in a few joints when in local mode. The developers could have given him a few more functions but overall, Spykee is a lot of fun. Maybe I'll arm him with an airsoft weapon...hmm. 5/5 OnyxCobra "onyxcobra" (Detroit,MI USA) - See all my reviews = Durability:, February 26, 2009A video surveillance deviceRecommended for 8 years and upSpykee can move, observe, hear, speak and take real time pictures with video and with sound effectsSpykee is a digital music playerActivates an alarm or sends you a picture by email -

Erector Spykee Vox
Toy (Erector)
List Price: $179.99
not worth it for price
This was not worth the price! Eats batteries in just two days, barely does anything, hard to figure out how to program it computer wise to do what you want it to. Putting it together was easy though and it looks awesome. Kids like it for short tyme and get bored with it! Mine was built wrong in factory, the forward was backward and the backward was forward! Apparenty the axles/program was made wrong and backwards! It barely picks up your voice so its hard to get it to hear you to perform. I wouldn't get this, but given it is fine, just realize if u get it as gift it shall become a paperweight! LOL 3/5 Crystal "MickO'Lessner" (United States) - See all my reviews, May 3, 2012Stopped working after three months
Bought this for our 9 year old son for Christmas. He put it together right away and we were able to synch it with the computer to follow commands as described. Worked good for about a month, then it started going through batteries faster even with minimal play time. Every time the batteries died we had to synch it with computer and now it will no longer synch and doesn't respond to any commands. Our son is very disappointed. Contacted the seller and they will not help since it is past the 1 month warranty. Contacted manufacturer and they require us to ship it to Hong Kong for repair. We are done with Spykee Vox and would never recommend it anyone. 5/5 rislek - See all my reviews = Durability:, March 27, 2012Poor build design
My Daughter (12) likes to build things. She's pretty good at soldering and assembling. This only requires some screws really. She's done quite a few projects so far with minimal to no help from me. She was pretty excited to get this and after reading the instructions started assembling it. It only took a few minutes for her to get frustrated assembling it. It uses screws with plastic sleeve mollies to hold just about everything together. The problem is, the swedge type of fit is not very tight at all. The plastic sleeve is too soft and with minimal force slips right out of the hole it's fitted in. I tried my hand at it and got the same results. Best we can do is work with some glue and assemble it use some glue in the fittings and let it sit. I'll report back later as to how it works out and how the toy itself is to play with. So var I'm not very impressed though. Had I known I would have skipped this altogether. She's headstrong and keen on continuing though so I figure... 3/5 Pete Romano "cheeze@sunflower.com" (Lawrence, Kansas USA) - See all my reviews, February 27, 2012

Spykee not easy to assemble, bad instructions, missing pieces
Well, my son and I are still trying to get the Spykee up and running. It was not that easy to follow the instructions, even for my smart 12 year old, who has spent about 1/4 his free-time since he was 4 building lego and bionicles sets. Plus, we were missing a couple of critical pieces. It's a bit hard to see if it's charging properly, and I can't tell if it's going to be useful as a night watchman at my store, which is why I bought it. Not too satisfied yet, but I haven't fully tested it. We've just done a quick test run, then the battery ran out... video and audio work so far, though. 3/5 Seana C O'Callaghan (Ossining, New York United States) - See all my reviews = Durability:, September 22, 2011 -

Erector Spykee Mini Vox
Toy (Erector)

"MINI VOX... DESTROY THE WORLD!"
This was a Christmas gift for my 9 year old son. We built the robot together, taking about 1 hour. The instructions were a little challenging. My son was more than willing to plunge in and probably would have finished in well under an hour had I not insisted on trying to figure out the assembly instructions. Building the robot with my son was overall a 5 star experience. Fun with minimal challenge. Once assembled, the robot was an instant hit with my 9 and 6 year old boys. I was impressed with the response to voice command. You do have to speak directly at the front of the robot. First you state his name and watch for 2 LEDs to light up. That's how the robot confirms he is listening (voice is male with a hint of Buzz Lightyear thrown in) and then you give one of 7 or 8 commands. This probably sounds like a clumsy process but once my son figured out to speak to the front of the robot in a clear voice, he was able to get the robot to react and within 2 to 3 seconds he could have... 4/5 South Sound Sailor (Tacoma, WA) - See all my reviews = Durability:, December 27, 2009.
GREAT!! My 9 year old absolutely loves it. His friends wish they would have received one also. I like the idea of the kids having to put it together before they can play with it. It helps them learn to have a lil' respect for their gifts/toys. My son just wished there were more voice commands for it. 4/5 tisnaps "tisnaps" (Branch, TX) - See all my reviews = Durability:, December 28, 2009Doesn't listen...gets old fast!
My 5 year old and I had some laughs one afternoon with Mini Vox. We found it somewhat difficult to command him. Sometimes he wouldn't listen and other times he would do something different than what you commanded him to do. After about an hour it got boring and now it is sitting in the garage and my son hasn't played with it since. 4/5 New iPod Lover - See all my reviews = Durability:, July 19, 2010Batteries: Requires 3 AAA batteries (not included)Dimensions: 6L x 6.75H x 4.75W inches
