  A Mixed Bag

  I've owned two different Oreck XLs over the course of six years and used them 5 days a week for most of that time, so I can say with confidence that I'm well aware of the pros and cons of this model. I wanted a vacuum powerful enough to handle cleaning two or three big houses a day that wasn't too heavy to lift in and out of the trunk several times a day. On those two points, the XL clearly does excel. With an empty bag it's only 8lbs, making it by far the lightest upright vac I've found that can do the job. And when it's functioning properly it performs very well. When it isn't you're going to run into so problems.Here's the good -1. As I said, this vacuum is extremely light and highly maneuverable, which does somewhat make up for it's lack of a hose with attachments. It can lay completely flat for getting underneath furniture, and it absolutely glides over hard wood or most carpets. Elderly housekeepers may find this especially appealing, since it's not... 3/5 D.   great for allergies and animal hair

  I have had an Oreck for 18 years and I won't own any other kind of vacuum. I worked for Merry Maids which that is all they use. I have used it on all types of flooring and hauled it from house after house when I was working. Now I am at home all the time and I bought one when I quit working and I won't own any other vacuum. I have raise dogs and I have not found another vacuum that will pick up the hair like the Oreck. I just can't say enough good about it. I keep looking at them and saving for a new one I can't wait to get one. My 18 year old Oreck that I have has a few broken parts but it is still doing it's job and very well.   Love My New Oreck

  I'm in love--with my new commercial Oreck! In the last 7 years, I have gone through 3 vacuums. My all tile house took a toll on the wheels of all 3 Kenmores that I owned. They did a great job picking up the dog hair, and cleaning my rugs--but not so good on the dust. My old Orecks were non-commercial ones that developed electrical cord problems. That's why I tried tried the Kenmore uprights.This new Oreck has been terrific so far. I had forgotten how light an Oreck is! I can vacuum my mattresses, dog beds, couch cushions by just lifting the Oreck onto the surface. I do still swiffer after I vacuum, but I'm down to one swiffer cloth instead of three. (We live in southern Nevada with lots of wind and dust storms) It also has a more compact head so it goes under more of my furniture and around tight spaces.When I read the other reviews before I bought my Oreck, two negatives were mentioned; the loudness and the smell from the bags.   Not original Oreck Bags

  I bought these bags because the information stated that they were "original Oreck bags, not generic like the others". Well guess what? They are not genuine Oreck bags. The bags came in a package that did not have the Oreck logo on it and it stated that the bags fit the Oreck Type CC. The package says "Envirocare Technologies which is not part of the Oreck Corp. The picture of the product I thought I was buying showed an Oreck package. Also, everyone who owns an Oreck knows that the bags are green and not white. I was stupid enough to buy two packages so I am stuck with them. It just isn't worth the hassle of returning them and paying the postage.   Unauthorized Substitution

  The bags that were sent by this vendor were generic bags and not the Oreck branded bags that I thought I was purchasing. I will not comment on their quality or performance. I will probably keep them simply due to the hassle of trying to return them and get the correct product. It is likely that the vendor who sent them is counting on that very response.   best I've used in my cleaning business

  I've owned one of these babies for over 10 years - clean 6-7 homes per week and it's still running strong with NO trips for repairs (I replace the belts when needed, and clean the brush). It is lightweight, but packs a powerful vacuum punch. I recomended this vacuum at a daycare I cleaned for five years and it took a ton of ABUSE at that place with all the food, debris, and small toys that would get caught in it. It held up for me during my tenure cleaning there (althought that particular vacuum had a recurring problem with an electical shortage in the handle - it was a lemon in my opinion and they should have returned it and requested a replacement). Another business I clean for picked one up and it works beautifully. For professional cleaning it's great - helps make quick work of vacuuming without breaking your back, and for home use, it can't be beat - should last forever. It is lightweight, and goes from carpet to solid flooring seamlessly. I love it.   Beyond satisfactory

  I just received this vacuum cleaner today. Mine is actually the SOR100, same cleaner only mine has an aluminum brush roll and the housing is chrome not black. My first impression of this when I took it out of the box was the quality of the unit. Steel housing, aluminum brush roll, easy assembly, just an over all solid feel. And it easy to remove the brush roll and fan to clean.Since there isn't a great description for this vacuum cleaner I will give some of the details.It is the commercial series of the Oreck vacuums. It has a reusable bag and a 50 foot long power cord (this model may be only 35). The wheels on the back are wide and easy to roll. It has six adjustable carpet settings, ( although most people will probably just use one or two) it doesn't self adjust like the domestic line of Orecks. The cleaning path is 12" and it doesn't have a light.   Not as good as Oreck bags

  These bags fit my Oreck XL fine. However, they do not move air as efficiently as the Oreck bags. The reduced suction was immediately noticeable (the vacuum was much easier to push) with these bags. I assume part of it is the allergy filter technology. As a result I found that they need changing a little more frequently because the suction drops. I estimate they have about 2/3 the life of the Oreck bags I had before.Also, these bags do not have the "Germstat" protection that inhibits mold and germs so if you vacuum certain things, like pet hair or pet litter or get any moisture into the bags they will start to have a bit of a funky smell after a while, whereas the Oreck bags produce much lower odor by comparison.These bags are also made in China, which the manufacturer tries to obfuscate by printing "Made in P.R.O.C." on the packaging (PROC = People's Republic of China).
