    I Love It

The Spyder is designed for smaller lawns - about 5000 square feet.I love mine. It's great to be able to relax on the patio with a cold drink, and watch the grass being cut by this machine.Initially, I had a problem with one of the two drive belts breaking on two separate occasions, which was caused both times by a screw which kept working loose from the center of the right front axle, inside the case. (There are four short axles - one for each wheel.)Replacing the loose screw that had worked out from its location in the center of the axle required removing the top cover from the machine - finding the loose screw in the case - and then replacing it in the axle. Before replacing it the second time, I coated the threads of the screw with Loctite so it would never come loose again. - Wonder why the manufacturer didn't do that?? Oh, well. The two drive belts transfer power from the two direct drive rear axles to the two front axles,... 4/5 Bill M (Madison, MS) - See all my reviews This review is from: LawnBott LB1200 Spyder Robotic Cordless Electric Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) The Spyder is designed for smaller lawns - about 5000 square feet.I love mine. Works okay until it breaks or cover is opened.

I purchased my 18 months ago, a demo from the dealer. It was a dream until I decided to do an update to the motherboard, which I had purchased the correct internet cable from the manufacturer. Opening it was the biggest mistake ever, as the "update" from the manufacturer was defective and shorted my board. Off I sent it to the only USA repair center at a cost of $50, even though it was under warranty, as you have to pay the shipping to send it there. 6 weeks and no repair, finally it was fixed when the new board came. However, it arrived damaged, one wheel broken. Be forewarned that the insides are plastic, and not a strong plastic, and this means that this mower is not built like my former robomower to handle drops or tough work.At another cost of $50, I sent it back to the only USA repair shop. It was sent back "repaired", but the "repaired" wheel had the broken piece replaced with a different than original piece that is defective. Pretty Good for the short time I've had it...!!!!

I wish I one of these things 30 years ago when my parents sent me outside to cut the grass. This thing is awesome, and I'm suprised that more people don't have them, although with the large price-tag, I definitely understand. If you can go without the extra flat screen TV in the house, then purchase this thing, because it is definitely a good investment. When I visited my parents house and used this thing for the first time, we were all amazed, especially my father, because at almost 70 years of age he no longer has to cut the grass, but now can watch the grass being cut by the lawnbott 1200. This thing is really tough too, we have really steep hill in the back of the house and it took a tumble and landed upside-down on concrete, but I picked it back up, set it on the grass and pressed start and it kept on going. So really pay attention to 27 degree incline, because anything more it may not make itThe only con, is that it does not cut in a set pattern and goes all over... 4/5 Mr. Riley "TR" (Kabul, Afghanistan) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) An honest view...

First off let me say I've seen a mix of reviews. Most of them have been positive, but a few negative ones as well. I will discuss the negative points fully since they should be mentioned, but they are far outweighed by all of the positive things I can say about this mower, which is why I have given it four stars. I would, and should give it five stars, but I want people to know how I honestly feel and I want them to read the negative points so they can decide if this is best for them. The subjects I will cover are setup, use, upkeep, quality, and price. Setup (Three stars): First off, this is by far the worst section. I can see a lot of potential for someone to set their mower up in an improper fashion resulting in limited performance, but if you keep in mind that this mower is supposed to help you overcome the bulk of your yard work keep in mind it doesn't do everything. It works as has been noted by many people by placing a wire... 4/5 J. Cisnero "Jace Cisnero" (Tennessee) - See all my reviews, June 14, 2005

    Very good, but not perfect.

I purchased an 850 about three months ago. My thumbnail review: good labor saving device, if you do not set your expectations too high. This tool saves me a LOT of work. Not necessarily time, but work. I don't feel comfortable leaving Raoul (our name for our "gardener") running when I go out. It takes him about two hours to cut one of our two zones. (It takes me about an hour to cut the whole thing by hand.) So for those two hours, someone has to be home. At first, we just sat and watched him cut. Now I usually work on something else, or eat dinner, or read a book. But I have to stay home. And he does not cut in an orderly fashion. Raoul just wanders around the yard in a long, cris-crossing fashion. What he does not cut in one pass, he might get in the next. Or maybe the one after that. So if you stop him early, you will have to look for the places he has missed. But I have gotten into the habit of just turning him loose whenever I happen to be at home for... 4/5 Jeff L. Make sure you read all of this review before making your decision. Anyone can buy a new car, toy, or appliance and be happy the first few weeks. It's the time factor that you need in making an intelligent decision about a product. Just how long does it last. That's why I try to make sure I update my review throughout the life of the product.I have had my robomower for 3 weeks now and I love it. No more taking allergy medication before mowing for me. The kit includes 200 stakes, charger, 500 feet of wire (if you need more you can use 14 guage - 500 feet - $20 from hardware store), signal unit and two signal unit connectors. It's controlled by the installation of the wire around the perimeter of your yard. How Things Work by John Langone

How Things Work is a vast compilation of explanations on everyday appliances that are dealt with in all areas of life. The book is divided into eleven chapters with categories ranging from household appliances, to mining and manufacturing, and health and medicine. Each chapter is two pages long with a descriptive page and a picture page which puts an image with the words. The description begins with a brief history of the machine followed by a description of the principles governing the machine. This book is both interesting and informative and would capture the curiosity of a wide group of people. One of the great parts of the book is that the machines range from simple designs, such as a non-electric lawn mower, to highly complex designs, such as space telescopes; and there is no prior knowledge required before reading any of the descriptions. When you think about the thousands of gadgets, both small and large, that makes our lives possible; it is easy to pass them... 5/5 Kevin C (Birmingham, MI) - See all my reviews This review is from: New How Things Work: From Lawn Mowers to Surgical Robots and Everthing in Between (Hardcover) How Things Work is a vast compilation of explanations on everyday appliances that are dealt with in all areas of life. Everyday Technology Explained

John Langone's "The New How Things Work" has more information with more details, realistic illustrations, and actual photographs to show how each item works. This is the grown-up companion to David Macaulay's illustrated "the New Way Things Work." Both books will last a lifetime in information or until obselete.National Geographic, renowned for its magnificent publications over the years does not falter with this volume. Instead, it is an over-sized publication dedicated to explaining technology to the lay public. The explanations are not "dumbed down" but use standard scientific terms, but not so difficult that an educated person cannot comprehend them. An example taken from the first product highlighted: "A microwave oven produces high-frequency electromagnetic waves. Passing through food, the waves reverse polarity billions of times a second" (16).The book is arranged into eleven categories: At Home, Power and Energy, Buildings, Transportation, Agriculture,... 5/5 Judy K. this book was awsome

I would recommend this book to people because I really thought this book was a page-turner. It was a page-turner because I would always want to know how the next things work and function. Another reason why I recommend this book to people that really like to learn about how combustion engines work or how a cell phone works, and everything in between. 5/5 0, March 30, 2007

I took it out in May and have cut the grass twice this year. It cuts the edge and them random motion around the yard. So far it has been flawless. I am looking forward to tall grass to see how the raandom motion looks. I plan to run it 2 or 3 times a week to stay on top of it. I also got the wireless remote control and a replacement blade. They recomend a new blade every 200 hours. I have 52 hours on it to date. The LCD readout gives you more data then you will want to know 5/5 Jim J. Great Robot Vac for the Money

I was a little apprehensive when I first decided to purchase a robotic vac, since I had never used anything like it before. I came up with a thousand reasons in my mind why it might be money down the toilet. However, I am happy to say that essentially the vacuum performs as well as could be expected.WORD OF CAUTION: This vac DOES NOT perform well on sculpted carpet-even if it has a short nap! I could see how it would have difficulties on carpet that has any real height to the nap at all. For somebody with wood or tile floors this thing is a dream!Pros: *Reusable, washable filters (3). *Easy to operate. *Wide variety of cleaning modes that work well. *UV light option for disinfecting (although I wonder how well that really works). *Compartment for adding scent packet (manual states that dryer sheet can be used as well). *Remote. *Easy clean removable brush and removable wheel... 4/5 Funk-K "music fiend & art addict" (cincinnati, ohio) - See all my reviews This review is from: Infinuvo QQ-1 CleanMate 365-Intelligent Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red (Kitchen) I was a little apprehensive when I first decided to purchase a robotic vac, since I had never used anything like it before. Clean House Every Day!!

I have done a lot of research comparing all the robotic vacuums and came down to either CleanMate or Roomba. I finally decided on CleanMate as I sorely wanted the UV light disinfecting feature. Let me tell you that it really works, my old old house is finally odor free to my ultra sensitive nose. It also have 2 other features that I rate better than Roomba. The dustbin is visible easily and the remote is small and docked on the vacuum so it won't get lost. It charges rather quickly, I think about 2.5 hours and each charge is sufficient to cover my little house entirely. It moves deliberately and doesn't mar any furniture. I am extremely pleased as the price/performance is definitely the best in the current market, hands down. In my opinion, everyone needs a CleanMate. 5/5 Grace (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews This review is from: Infinuvo QQ-1 CleanMate 365-Intelligent Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red (Kitchen) I have done a lot of research comparing all the robotic vacuums and came down to either CleanMate or Roomba. Glad I purchased!

Everyone in my house hates to vacuum so our floors (vinyl & berber carpet) would go weeks without cleaning. Finally, we decided to get a robotic vacuum and after doing a bit of research, decided on this one. We have it clean 1 room at a time and it does a great job. The dustbin is easy to clean, though it's a pain to brush off the air filter each time and it does need to be recharged after it's cleaned 2 rooms but otherwise, I have no complaints. We have a thick rug in our hallway and the robot has no trouble getting that clean either, just be sure to stay away from plush rugs! We don't have pets but we do track in a lot of pine needles and this guy gets them all. Now we don't stress about getting the big upright vacuum out every 4-6 weeks because our carpets look great! 4/5 seattle east "seattle east" (Kirkland, WA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Infinuvo QQ-1 CleanMate 365-Intelligent Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red (Kitchen) Everyone in my house hates to vacuum so our floors (vinyl & berber carpet) would go weeks without cleaning. Love it

I got my RoboMower in June of 2005 and other than one breakdown it has performed perfectly for me.I have 12,000 Sq Ft of very level lawn (newly landscaped and graded yard) with no obstructions. The RoboMower comes out every night at 5:00PM, mows for a few hours, and comes back without issue. It's the hit of the neighborhood.Laying the perimeter wire was a pain. At first I just laid it out and used the stakes to keep it down. I figured there was a 50/50 chance I'd be returning the unit (low expectations!) and I didn't want to spend the time burying the wire. After a couple of weeks I decided the unit was a keeper and I buried the wire - which took all day.Suggestion: keep the box in case you need to ship the unit back. If you have the box they'll pay for shipping. It's a pretty bulky shipment, so it'll be hard to find a box that can safely ship it back.Bottom line: My yard looks like a golf course every day. The quality of the mow... 4/5 G. Silvano (North of Boston) - See all my reviews, January 30, 2006

I love to mow when I am not home

I bought a new house and saw that everyone else in the neighborhood had a riding lawnmower. Having a small yard with not much to mow, in the past, I was not looking forward to spending at least 2 hours a week sitting on my [back] driving around in circles. I started looking for "high speed" riding movers but the cost was astronomical.(...)The mower and docking station arrived, from Amazon, in 2 large boxes. Installation and set-up was easily enough and I was "mowing" the front yard the next day. I had the mower set to MAX time but the lawn looked pretty well mowed after about 2 ½ hours. Now in the back yard (much larger area) the grass was long, wet, and has a long slope in it so the mower ran less than 3 hours before it returned to its dock. The lawn looked about 90% done. I was fairly satisfied with that being it is going out again today at 4:00 PM to finish up. "It mows, you don't". Love that! The only thing I did that took a bit more time for... 5/5 Daniel C. Timmy mows our lawn now

Timmy (Friendly Robotics RL1000) took over mowing our lawn August of 2005. I haven't mowed a lawn in over a year, 1 and a half growing seasons! I split up my front and back yard with a small gap so Timmy can do the front yard or the back and still make it home to his charging station. (home base is highly recommended!!!) I often start him up at 6pm and he keeps mowing until around 9:30pm and then goes to his little house for a complete re-charge for the next day. I did not choose the scheduled start option because I have two dogs and a 1 year old that leave toys in the yard. Also, Timmy can mow in the rain but grass cuts so much better when it's dry, plus grass clippings don't build up as much in the underside and wheel treads.Setting up took some time and a bit of experimenting. Especially deciding which trees to block out with the wire and how to keep Timmy in the front or back while still being able to make it home when he's done. I purchased an extra roll of wire at... 5/5 Ben Jordan (Portland, ME USA) - See all my reviews, October 8, 2006

Excellently Teaches Arduino, Robotics & Many Hacker Skills

If all this excellent book did was to provide careful, graduated instruction in robotics and the necessary Arduino skills to complete thetransition from a line-following or wall hugging robot to advanced projects like a workhorse lawnbot and a do-it yourself Segway-clone it would be worth many times the cover price. But, with practical well-illustrated instruction it also provides the physical computing enthusiast with the background they need in sensors and actuators (like accelerometers, H-Bridge Motor Controllers and Arduino Interfacing of DC Servo and Stepper Motors) to complete many advanced projects of all kinds with the Arduino and a variety of embedded processors. Addtional Hackerspace skills such as use of a Dremel Tool, PCB layout with Eagle Cad and homebrew PCB construction round out the skills to complete a wide variety of Electronic and Mechatronic projects. So, whether your aim is to build personal robotic projects in the Hackerspace, or in K-12 STEM... 5/5 Ira Laefsky "Ira Laefsky" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews, July 27, 2011

    Interesting read

It was an interesting read. The three hobbyists go through the robotic designs that they made on the cheap using old scavenged parts. They did an amazing job simplifying concepts to the point anybody with a high school education can understand them. Most of the book is devoted not to the Arduino but to the mechanical engineering parts of making a robot on the cheap. Diverse topics like cutting polystyrene and making homemade PCB's take up most of the book with the Arduino part mostly being a brief description of what the code does. I would recommend the book, but there are things that might annoy some people. It doesn't have much of an in-depth look at the Arudino itself. For their more complicated robots where non-library custom code is needed you will see comments like "If you want to understand this, you must read the Data Sheet of atmega168." These guys seem to own a hardware store of tools and have a warehouse of parts lying around. The use of old scavenged parts is cool, but it... 4/5 E. Berta - See all my reviews, September 22, 2011

    Arduino Robotics

This is a cracker of a book and an essential cornerstone for anyone who has recently started tinkering with robotics, or is thinking of doing so. It goes way beyond the title to cover a multitude of disciplines required to undertake and complete the projects in the book, and in the process imparts valuable knowledge to the reader. The authors have used a solid foundation to describe the basic electric and electronic theory in a simple and straight forward way, making the book both easy to read and understand. The electronics world has many pitfalls where duplicate terminology abounds and the authors have clearly described these situations which certainly would help a novice understand the ambiguity created when terms like negative, ground, sink, VSS and cathode all refer to the same thing. The visual depiction of both electronic component symbols and actual components makes this book an invaluable reference. The versatility of the Arduino becomes evident when the... 5/5 Chas Venter - See all my reviews This review is from: Arduino Robotics (Paperback) This is a cracker of a book and an essential cornerstone for anyone who has recently started tinkering with robotics, or is thinking of doing so.
