About this book
IT’S A POST-ECOCAUST WORLD. WELCOME TO IT.In the San Jose of tomorrow, all of nature is gengineered—from the warm-blooded plants to the designer people. But even in a rigidly controlled biosystem, with its pheromone-induced social order, the American dream is still the American dream. Caught between these new-old worlds, Rigo is on his way up—he’s going to be part of tomorrow, even if it means he has to leave today behind.Written off as a sellout on the streets of his old ’hood, Rigo’s got his own ap in an aplex, a 9-to-5er, and a girl. He’s got opportunity. If he works hard, his job with a heavyweight politicorp could give him a chance to move up in the clades. But when he’s chosen as part of a team to construct a new colony on a nearby comet, Rigo smells a setup. And when disaster strikes, he learns that if there’s a way to bend the rules, there’s also a way to break them…

Very Happy customer
We put in an inground pool two years ago and have struggled with keeping it clear the whole time. We just opened the pool up for the year and to our dismay the pool was cloudy and had a layer of white scum on the bottom. THE AQUABOT's instructions were very easy to understand and to follow . We did have to clean the filter frequently for the first few days but I have never seen our pool looking so clear or clean as it looks right now. We had to pour some cement close to the pool and accidentlly got some in the pool ,no problem for the aquabot. We bought another cleaner when we bought the pool and paid almost as much,I wish now we had bought the aquabot instead. As the person who is responsible for cleaning the pool,I am in Love with the Aquabot!!!!!! 5/5 Lawrence D. Wilson (Calera, AL, US) - See all my reviews, April 26, 2010They call it "The Classic"
I bought my aquabot "classic" at BJ's Wholesale Club about 4 years ago. I was under the impression that this unit would be fool-proof, easy to use, a work horse, and cheap to operate.Let's start this review with how it operates first and then get into the maintenance issues towards the end of the review. They're advertising that you simple plug it in and walk away. It cleans the whole pool, the steps, goes around obstacles such as ladders and will not get stuck. I personally found that I had to "baby" this unit. Every hour or so there seemed to be something going on. I found that it did hang on the pool ladder occasionally, so after a few times, I simply started pulling the ladder out to avoid this from happening. No big deal. In 4 years, I must say that I only saw this unit on the steps a few times, but then again, I wasn't watching too much. If I wanted the steps cleaner, I would catch the unit and placed it there physically. Then there's the claim that this unit will vacuum... 5/5 Joseph S. We've owned this machine since May 2007. It has been sitting in our garage for a year, since the repairs needed (electrical cord, electrical supply box, filter bag, etc.) would cost over $600 including shipping (to New Jersey from Texas). During the first two years the brush, drive track and drive belts have had to be replaced at least once if not more. The filter bag tore apart last year as well. It worked beautifully the first year and pretty well the second, but replacing the belts, track and brush was somewhat difficult. Also, I do not know if this is typical for robotic pool cleaners, but after being in the pool and filled with water, it was pretty heavy and somewhat difficult for me to lift out of the pool. I cannot recommend this machine due to the high repair costs. 2/5 riverlass (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Aqua Products AB Aquabot In-Ground Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaner for Pools, Up to 40-Foot (Lawn & Patio) We've owned this machine since May 2007. Love the simplicity
With so many things to maintain for a pool already, the last thing I want to do is to maintain an automatic pool cleaner. If I have to replace belts, tracks, booster pumps, and so on, then I might as well spend that time with an old fashioned pole vacuum instead. Before I bought this T-Jet I had a tough time deciding between the Polaris series, T-Jet, and the Turbo T2 model.I ended up buying the T-Jet because of the simplicity with so few moving parts that can break. I'm happy with the decision. The T-Jet cleans the pool crystal clear. But to get the best performance, first I had to make some adjustments to the setup out of the box. So here are some tips. The settings on the T-Jet when it first arrives are for impressing you with the speed in which the water jets propel it across the pool - to maximize the water flow but not maximizing the cleaning potential. The changes I made were the following: 1. snap on the intake extender so that the suction port is... 5/5 FlyingPolarBear (Fullerton, CA USA) - See all my reviews, July 17, 2009Almost Perfect
**Update: After a year of use, I'd still give it a 4 star rating. Over the past year, I never had to clean the filter cartridges on my pool. All the dirt and debris that usually went into the filter cartridges got vacuumed up by the robot. I also never had to vacuum the pool using a vacuum head connected to by pool's filtration system. This spring my pool was a mess with dirt and leaf debris. I put in the robot with the leaf bag and several hours later all the debris was vacuumed up. Then I switched to the fine filter bag and a few hours later had a pristine looking pool again. For the money, this has been a great purchase. **Before I bought the turbo, I was cleaning my pool using a conventional vacuum head on a pole that was connected to my filter system. It would take me at least 30 minutes to move the vacuum back and forth across the entire pool to clean it. I have a cartridge filter system so all that dirt I vacuumed up just went into the filter. At times I would have... 4/5 J. Weber (Texas) - See all my reviews, June 21, 2009Disappointing performance on algae
I purchased the Turbo T Jet primarily to help deal with occasional heavy algae build-up in my in-ground, kidney-shaped pool. Using the fine cloth filter bag the robot does clean up algae from the bottom of the pool, but within 20-30 minutes it stops in its tracks due to loss of suction caused by the collected algae. It takes about five minutes to remove the robot from the pool, clean out the filter bag, reassemble it, and restart the program. I have to do this 3-5 times before the majority of the pool has been cleaned. What I had really hoped for for was something that I could "set and forget". No such luck, unfortunately, at least not with heavy algae. When the pool has just a light amount of algae (i.e., barely visible) the robot will run for 90 minutes or so before it has to be cleaned. The other drawback is that it does not do a very good job of covering the full pool area -- possibly because of the irregular shape of my pool. I watched it for 10 minutes today as it... 2/5 Toto Fan - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Aqua Products APRVJR Aquabot Pool Rover Jr. Robotic Above-Ground Pool Cleaner

Best money invested in an auto pool cleaner
I've read the mixed reviews and wanted to share my experience with Rover. This is our second season with him, and I don't know what I would do with Rover. We bought him last year, first time pool/house owners and the pool was filled with algae and tons of stuff. Rover worked overtime, and got Everything out. Yes, his bag filled up, but the condition to the pool was not so good. We used him regularly and cleaned him after each use, following directions. We use to have a DE filter which broke and spit the powder all out in the pool.... yup Rover cleaned it all up for us. In the fall we had acorns all in the pool... yup again Rover picked up the big leaves and all the acorns, and I mean he had like 50 of them in his bag at a single time. It looked so funny emptying them out! But, he got the job done, with the solar cover even on top of the pool he works under it.I find it great that you can just drop him in, set him to go, and come back in 2 hours and all done.... sooo easy... 5/5 Marisa Nitsch (Prospect, CT United States) - See all my reviews, June 16, 2010Say good bye to bulky hoses and hours of manual cleaning!
I love our Pool Rover. We had purchased the Robo-Kleen the season before. The Robo-Kleen lasted less than a full season before it died. We have used the Pool Rover all season without a problem. This unit is a lot lighter than the Robo-Kleen which makes it a pleasure to lift and carry. Although I must say it does feel a bit cheaply made, yet continues to rival in reliability and cleaning performance when compared to our prior Robo-Kleen. I worry that one day that the thin plastic axles of this unit will crack but so far they have been holding up well. The Pool Rover has cleaned up dirt, leaves, and algae from the bottom of our above ground oval swimming pool without a problem. It never gets stuck, nor does it climb up the walls and stall out as our Robo-Kleen often did.So why did I only rate the unit 4 stars instead of 5? Well first off, I'll tell you that it has nothing to do with the reliability and cleaning performance of this unit. i can't tell you the last time i spent $300and was glad i did !!this junior rover is perfect for above ground pools.it does what it says it will.cleans within an hour !!it will stop if dirty or runs into a twig.i used it at pool opening earlier this year.took a couple of hours, however, the pool was sparkling and ready to go,even if it was COLD.inside, is like a polyester "diaper". just unsnap the bottom, pull the cloth off, spray it off, and put back.i don't let my pool get dirty, so i don't have a problem with the cloth diaper getting full.but, i do wash it out after every use. ( my neighbor used it while we were on vacation and didn't wash it out.we had grass growing in it when i pulled it out next time. )read the instructions.i keep mine set on 30.the reset button takes care of itself.check on it periodically because the cord will tangle. it is like neoprene... 5/5 Pauline M. I bought the Aquabot T4 about 1 year ago after brushing the pool for days to clean up the algae. It was an expensive purchase and my wife thought I got another expensive toy. After we used it for a year (but left it off during the winter), my wife said another great purchase/choice from me! Because we left the robot turned off during winter and cover the pool, we found the pool was filled with green algae again and the water was so muddy. So I turn on the Aquabot for a 5 hour run for the last 3 days, the pool is back to crystal clear. It does take some work to clean the bag after each run to make it effective. But other than that, it is a great machine and save my back and shoulder from pain because of the scrubing and brushing.I guess the only drawback is now I have less and less exercise because of the robot taking care of the pool brushing! :) 5/5 Y. Good, bad and ugly
The good:Every time I drop the Aquabot in, it comes out with stuff in the filter - so it is doing what its suposed to! I missed the start of the season - with some big leaves and lots of smaller stuff, so I do not know how it handles this stuff yet. So for now it is simple upkeep. The bad:First time I dropped it in it got stuck on the ladder. I have to admit that I dropped it in the shallow end parallel to the end wall - so it headed straight for the ladder. No big deal for me - I can take the ladder out in less than a minute. The ugly:The "random" path is really a way of saying that the Aquabot has no clue what it is up to - or where it is. My guess is that some advertising wonderboy turned "robot has no way of navigating" into "random path covers entire pools".Bottom line:I live in the NE - so I cover the pool at night to keep the heat in. Stuff still gets in - enough that I could spend an hour a day vacuuming. So this... 4/5 david stokes "oddbod" (NE) - See all my reviews, June 25, 2008Never Again
I bought the Aquabot Turbo new in 2004 for about $800. Since then I've spent about $600.00 in repairs and maintenance. When it works, it works well. Here is a list of what I've had to do for it. General maintenance: Replace all belts (three times). This is costly. I've repaired a broken wire for the unit. The drive motor has died once also. Repairs can only be completed by the manufacturer. Shipping is costly and repairs expensive. I'd much rater buy a unit that doesn't rely on an additional power source and have so many extra parts that always need to be replaced. I will say again though it will clean very well when it works and has enough power to suck up a three foot snake. 3/5 Shadowdobe "doberman" (Central, NY USA) - See all my reviews I bought the Aquabot Turbo new in 2004 for about $800. This is my second Aquabot Turbo. First did a great job of cleaning the pool, and lasted about 7-8 years (although during the last 4-5 years we had to replace a few parts such as drive belt, roller pads, and plastic side pieces). Otherwise, this product is relatively low maintenance. This new version seems to work even better. 1/5 KK "Tech Fan" (Voorhees, NJ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) SmartPool Wall Climber In-Ground Pool Cleaner w/ Caddy Cart

Thought I loved this pool cleaner...
A month after I received this unit, I wrote the following:I just got the Nitro Wall Climber a few days ago to replace my Polaris 360. My pool has never looked so good! I would recommend this to anyone with an inground pool. It was delivered promptly, was easy to assemble and use, and in the first 3-hour cleaning cycle made my pool look better than I have ever seen it. It climbed all of the walls and even removed a small amount of yellow algae that had just started to show up on one wall.It climbs all the way to the waterline, seems to know when to back up, pop a wheelie to get off of the drain, and cleans everything very well.It does not climb stairs, but then neither did my Polaris, nor has any other that I have heard of, so as far as I am concerned this is as good as it gets!I have now owned this cleaner for 1 1/2 years, with 6 months of that time in the winter, when it was used maybe 1 time a month. It quit working about 2 weeks... 2/5 David A. Hobt "DAHobt" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews, August 7, 2009Great Perfomance for the Price!
I Have owned more expensive units costing 1000-1400. I took my chance on this one. At first the unit would not climb, then it just stopped working. I must say at first I was disappointed, so I returned it to the Manufacturer for a replacement. The new one worked fantastic! It climbs walls doesn't scrub the water line but will clean up to it. That is not a problem for me, as non of the other models did a great at this. It does a great job on the bottom and cleans the deep end as well as the shallow end. Will not climb stairs, but don't get hung up on that, none of the previous models did a good job at that either. The unit is able to go up the steep grade in my pool were other models I have owned would fall back down to the deep end. In addition, it has a great feature: if it senses that it is stuck- like on the pickup drains on the bottom, it will pop a wheely and navigate out of its stuck position. No clogs, No jambs. Just cleans. Love it!
They is a diamond amoungst a bunch of glass. I have had them all. Polaris, Krawley and other Hayward junk. Hayward should stick to pumps and filters. This one I thought would be no better. I have been running the Nitro for 12 months. I was wary as it looked to flimsy but it works like crazy. My pool has never been cleaned so well. I have some redwoods that the neighbors have that drop their very spikey needles and my own Texas Umbrellas (China Berry) which are in full fall with the long stick type of leaf stems. And it cleans the china berry's themselves that the squirrels cut in half and litter the pool with this time of year. All of it gets sucked in and devoured. Cleaning it out is easy and no clogs in the suck holes. No wimmpy jambs in the wings. No breaking of the mechanism. I am delighted. My only cavaets are they didn't use stainless on some of the inside screws which I replaced. The bag which I thought wasn't so tough is. No holes or damage after a year. 5/5 Gary B. Aqua Products APRV Pool Rover Robotic Above-Ground Bowl Shaped Pool Cleaner
Lawn & Patio (Aqua Products)
List Price: $399.00
Pool Rover Above Ground Pool Vac
The Pool Rover is the third and definitely the last automatic vacuum I will ever own. I previously owned the Aqua Critter by Hayward and the Great White by StaRite. The other 2 never completely cleaned my pool and I always ended up having to manually vacuum all the spots they missed. The other draw back to these 2 vacs is that they have to be hooked up to your skimmer to work and because of that the skimmer obviously is out of use during the entire vacuuming time. They also end up clogging your filter with dirt and leaves which forces you to have clean your filter very frequently. The Pool Rover works independently of your filter and skimmer. It comes with a small electrical box that you plug in and gets its power from that. It has a cloth filter bag that collects all the dirt and debris. The bag is reuseable, I have had mine for 3 years now and it is still like new. All you have to do is remove the bag and rinse it out with your garden hose. A few times a year I... 5/5 Debbie (Fairfield, CT) - See all my reviews = Durability:, September 15, 2009Well, try this on
A two year warranty; any other in this price range is only one. If you want it to go up your wall, you insert additional floats and increase the timer lap interval. Very easy to operate. Mechanically simple. The reason I'm posting: I find it easier to clean the filter bag when dry. You turn it inside out and shake out the heavier particulate matter as it "falls to your feet". Then, wash the filter bag in a bucket of water and rinse and repeat, no detergent. The instructions assume you will rinse and wash everything right away, after use and it is a good idea, just less awkward for me to shake the filter bag out when dry rather than try to manipulate a wet, floppy, dirty bag in one hand and spray it with a hose in the other hand.I find as I use it often enough, I don't have to wash the bag each time I use it; I'm going for every second time, meaning, I skim a lot manually, and I also do occasional light vacs the old fashioned way, if I feel the mess is... 5/5 B. Szymanski - See all my reviews, August 16, 2010very good cleaner and a time saver
I will no repeat the specifications that you can read above, except to say that this particular model is confusing as to whether it can be used in ground pool as well as an above ground pool. I have an in ground pool and it worked fine. It was able to climb up the wall quite a bit.I have a mango shape in ground pool, about 26 feet long, with a deep and a shallow end. I put the rover in the pool after I made sure the air was out (first dip in the pool upside down). It sank fine to the bottom, and yet felt light when you tugged on the power cord (make sure not to pull it out of the water by using the power cord). I turned on the external power supply/timer and was surprised to see it move fast on the pool's floor. The timer sets how long it travels in one direction before reversing again. You will have to fine tune this so that the rover cleans the whole pool. Make it too short, and you will find that the rover stays cleaning one area only (prefers to stay in the... 5/5 A. Aquabot Jr. Wall Scrubber Robotic Pool Cleaner
Lawn & Patio (AquaProducts)

Greatest pool cleaner invention yet!
This Aquabot Junior pool cleaner is really a true pool cleaner - it cleans the bottom, the walls, and even the steps. It doesn't get hung up in corners or anywhere else in your pool. The filter bag will hold everything from bobby pins, leaves, bugs, algae, and sand - and other undesirable disgusting stuff.Just put it in the pool plug it in and forget it!The only negative comment is that cleaning the filter bag can be somewhat disgusting since the unit picks up just about everything. I turn mine inside out, shake out what I can, and then put the bag on a flat surface and the use a hose to spray away the remainder. This can take a while but remember what you are washing away is what other pool cleaners simply blow back into your pool. The pool cleaner cleans so... 5/5 Paul Spivey - See all my reviews, August 9, 2010The add is a lie and the quality is poor
When I recieved the Aquabot Jr. Wall Climber the C clip was broken. After hours with Aquabot I went to the store and bought one. When I turned the "Wall Climber" on the one thing it did not do was climb walls. Within the first year I had to replace the drive belts. The teeth broke off of the belts. I stored the unit in my basement for the winter to protect it. When I put it back in the pool the propeller broke within one week. After having an above ground pool for so long and using a suction side cleaner, I needed help in deciding which inground cleaner to buy after we built an inground pool. A rep from a specialty pool store recommended this one. It does a pretty good job and even goes up to the water line on the walls. But it won't clean the dirt out of the corners in the floor in the deep end. And sometimes it will get stuck on the bottom drains even if the pool is turned off. Because it doesn't have a remote control, you have to wait until it decides to manuever itself back up to the shallow end before you can take it out. And it's pretty heavy. But I do like it. It makes no noise whatsoever, unlike those clicking above ground cleaners. 4/5 H. Barnes "I don't like to vacuum!" (SC) - See all my reviews, August 9, 20111 Year Warranty.50 foot floating cord -

Very Poorly Engineered Product! TOY REMOTE! TERRIBLE LYING AD! Just a waste of time & $$!!
I purchased this 'product' and had it shipped 2-day to get my pool prepared for this weekend. I paid over $1300 for this thing. I paid extra money for a remote control model - I need to be able to control the cleaner for spot cleaning - and the item arrived from Amazon today. I read the entire manual cover to cover. I followed all instructions the company put in their manual.I connected everything, put a battery in the remote control, extended the antenna on my power unit, and put the POS in the pool - being careful to get all the air out before it settled to the bottom of the shallow end of my pool.I turned it on and it looked great. It went right to the other side of the pool, climbed the wall, and started cleaning the waterline as advertised. This was the very last time I would ever see this thing anywhere near the waterline. The remote control is so cheaply made I would expect it to be used with a child's toy.
