    Happy with choice

Like many people I struggled to make a decision between this model and competitive models that offer similar functionality. I decided to go with the Polaris 9300 Sport because it was getting good reviews from other buyers on Amazon, and it seemed to have some advantages going for it that other models did not. I don't typically write reviews but this is an expensive purchase and other reviews were key in my decision making so I wanted to help other people out who are having a tough time making a decision. So here are my initial pros/cons, after 5 or 6 runs of the cleaner:Pros:1) Unlike some other units I was interested in (such as the Aquabot T4) this unit is less expensive and comes with a cart (vs. it being an optional accessory). I didn't think I'd care about the cart but I have to say it makes moving the robot to/from my garage very easy. The unit is not heavy for a man but throw in all the cord and the AC to DC converter/control box and it would be a... 4/5 cgarDFW (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The only Pool Robot that Works FINAL UPDATE

I have just purchased the Polaris 9300 Sport to replace a real piece of crap Aquabot Turbo TRC that I purchased and returned on Amazon.com. Still waiting for my full refund so we'll see what happens...The 9300 is a really good product. It cleans well and does what the ad says it will do...unlike the POS Aquabot with it's toy train remote control, (what a rip off!), and impossible bag design. The 9300 does the job and the cartridge filter is very easy to clean and return to the bot for another trip around the pool. It scrubs the walls and waterline well and is very convienient to use. Includes a nice caddy to hold everything as well.I shopped around for about a month before I took a chance on the Aquabot and was extremely sorry I did. All the reviews say the Aquabot is so great...but who are these people? Aquabot sales maybe? All I know is I bought the POS and it was horrible and everything in the ads were lies. I have to repack it and ship it... 5/5 Jammitol (Snellville, GA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Polaris 9300 Sport Robotic Pool Cleaner I have just purchased the Polaris 9300 Sport to replace a real piece of crap Aquabot Turbo TRC that I purchased and returned on Amazon.com. We love our new pool guy!

We purchased the Polaris 9300 after much research and consultation with our local pool store. Frankly, none of the robotic cleaners got across-the-board good reviews so we didn't know what to do. This is not a small purchase so we wanted to make the right decision. I'm 100% sure this was the right decision. We've only had our Polaris (a.k.a., Agador Spartacus) for a couple of weeks but have been extremely pleased with his performance. We have a basic rectangular pool with steps at one end and a single ladder out of the deep end. The transition from floor to side is 90 degrees - no soft curved edges in our pool. Many strange angled surfaces and steep transition from shallow to deep end (~ 18 X 36 feet).Agador deflty navigates every surface. He has yet to miss the stairs or get hung up on the ladder. Our yard is full of trees (too full!) dropping many leaves in the pool with each summer pop-up storm. Agador hasn't had any trouble with the large quantity of leaves... 5/5 L. Works great until it hangs on the drain, then it's game over

This pool cleaner works exactly as advertised, and works very well. Until it tries to run across the raised drain cover at the bottom of the deep end of our pool, at which point it gets hung up on the drain cover and can never extricate itself. And I really mean "never" -- my wife insisted it would free itself, but I've seen it sit on top of the drain cover and spin for a solid hour. To use it, I have to let it clean until it hangs on the drain cover, then drag it somewhere else by its cord and let it clean some more until it (fairly quickly) reaches the deep end and hangs up again. It is a fatal design flaw.Previous to this we had a Ray-o-vac and a Poolvergneugen, both of which worked perfectly (especially the latter) but each of them fell apart after a few years. I was hoping by paying more money for a quality product I could do better. I was wrong. 2/5 R. C. Jackson "Curtis Jackson" (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews, February 23, 2012

best pool cleaner I ever owned.

I have a barrier reef fiberglass pool that holds about 14,000 gallons. I have owned this product about one season. I have had a pool for about 16 years and have owned two different polaris pool cleaners and a creepy crawly and a hayward cleaner and have tried several others. There is no perfect cleaner, but I think this one is the best I have ever used. My current pool has stairs and two sitting areas as well as a ledge that goes around the entire pool. This cleaner gets the pool almost as clean as when I vacuum. It comes with a cart that both stores the cleaner but also holds the control panel and robot connection. The robot is electric and requires no plumbing or connection to a pump. It is not designed to stay in the pool. I just drop the robot in the pool, plug up the cart and attach the cord from the robot to the cart and turn it on. The panel has an off and on button and two cleaning cycle options, a long and a short cycle. This robot cleans the steps, the sitting... 4/5 Paul Chandler (FLORENCE, SC, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Polaris 9300 Sport Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools I have a barrier reef fiberglass pool that holds about 14,000 gallons. Good but some key issues

This pool cleaner works better than any we had previously. Best part is it gets up all the sand and dirt on the bottom, not just larger items and goes above the water line to clean the tiles and steps. The worse part is that the cord continually gets tangled, shortening how far the sweeper can go. We've had this for a year and literally have to untangle the cord every second or third time.Given the high cost, it's hard to recommend this product. I gave it a three for cleaning our pool well when everything is perfect. FYI - we have a 30,000 pool with pebbletec, salt water. Works as advertised. Easy to maintain

I've had this for 3 months now and have used it at least once a week. It works as advertised and is easy to use and maintain. One reviewer said it was "horrendous" but provided no details. Maybe they got a bad copy? If so, they should contact Polaris about it. I talked with them (on the phone, a US based rep, without waiting long) about their guarantee, which is for 2 years, better than most, and they told me they usually send a technician out to look at it. He also said that since this is an important product for Polaris, their first robotic cleaner in the US, (which, by the way, has been sold in other parts of the world for several years before they brought it to the US market) they want to make sure they are aware of any issues and fix them right away. I have never owned a robotic or other form of automatic pool cleaner, so I have nothing to compare it to. Assembling this product consists mainly of the portable storage rack that comes with it. The only issue I have with the design... 5/5 Bill Nicholas - See all my reviews This review is from: Polaris 9300 Sport Premium Inground Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaner (Misc.) Worked great for 4 months then died...

Purchased at the beginning of the summer season. Unit work considerably well all year. Ran it every other day to keep pool clean. Not once had to break out the manual vacuum until the end of Aug. when it stopped working. Returned it the the local pool dealer that I purchased it from. They had it for over a month waiting on parts. They had a half a dozen of these (9300's) waiting to be fixed. I ended up calling the manufacturer (Zodiac)and told them about the long wait and they contacted the dealer and they gave me a brand new one in the box. Put it in the pool and it cleaned up a months worth of leaves and acorns in a couple of hours. I'm worried it's going to break down again next season. Too expensive to have to replace it every year. I'm hoping the new one lasts longer. This thing should cost less than $500 for what comes in box. Really not much to it. Bag is easy to remove and clean, wish it had a cable roller built in. Hope others have better luck with it. This is our first... 3/5 R. Ernst (Annapolis, MD United States) - See all my reviews, October 4, 2010

    mixed feelings

PRO: design is nice, debri bag is perfect, only uses 1/5 of a watt per 2.5hr cycle!, does pick up stuffCONS: pricy, likes to stay in the deep side of the pool, doesn't cover the entire pool (so i run it several times), the "exhaust" blows away debri that the unit never vacuums, sometimes it flops around, not great if you just need a touch-up debri pick-up, not effective scrubbing the walls (specially if you have concave/convex walls) 3/5 F. Overpriced: it looks good but is not as good as a 380

Very disappointed in this pool cleaner: the drive wheel kept falling off and the zipper bag is very difficult and time consuming to clean: the zippers get fouled with debris. Many new features but poorly implemented: a big disappointmentI did give it one star for good looks: if it only worked as wellThe cleaner did not seem to be able to climb as well as my old 380I returned the 3900 and bought a new set of tires for my 380 1/5 mark rubin (Jersey Shore) - See all my reviews, May 25, 2009

    Don't get this cleaner.

I decided to get a new cleaner to replace my 5-year-old 280. I was tired of replacing parts and I was hoping that progress had been made in climbing and cleaning ability. I was impressed by the looks of the 3900 Sport and the description of its steel mechanism. So I plunked down 899 bucks and took it home.I was disappointed to realize that this cleaner requires more pressure to power it than the 280. I took apart the wall receptacle and removed the blue flow limiting device. Now the wheels spun at the appropriate speed. The cleaner did climb OK but not better than my old cleaner. The bag has two compartments that open/close with zipper. This is harder to clean than the old 280 design. The worst thing is a design flaw associated with the tail hose. The hose attaches to a plastic nozzle that rotates to control the amount of water pressure/tail movement. Unfortunately, the tail's sweeping movement repeatedly turned the flow off after a few minutes. Tail movements would... 2/5 JDD (SAINT LOUIS, MO, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Polaris Vac-Sweep 3900 Sport F6 Premium Pressure-Side Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools (Lawn & Patio) I decided to get a new cleaner to replace my 5-year-old 280. Polaris's 3900 lemon cleaner

We upgraded from the Polaris 380 to the Polaris 3900--big mistake...First of all, it won't clean the shallow end of the pool. It constantly gets stuck on the drain at the bottom of the pool and when it climbs the wall, it will tip over on its side. It has been in the shop more than it's been in the pool over the last year. I really think Polaris just failed on this one. The 380 worked great--the only reason we upgraded was because it was getting old and in need of repairs. We are now considering upgrading to the 9300--I'm skeptical though...I'm afraid we will encounter some of the same issues. 1/5 Kerry J. Pham "Kerry" (Florida) - See all my reviews, June 22, 2010

    Excellent Pool Cleaner

I have a vinyl Grecian 19X38 hopper pool in Wisconsin that I recently opened for the season. My prior cleaners are the Polaris 360 and a Barracuda G4. I have used the 9300 sport robotic now for three days. With the winter dirt I can clearly see where the 9300 has and has not been and I am impressed with its performance. It is quiet and fast. The scrubbers on the front even get up to the water line. It has two modes, one that runs 1 1/2 hours and 2 1/2 hours. I have run the short mode three times and the long one twice and my pool is 90-95% clean. It has a large debris collector that is easy to clean and the unit looks sharp. Negatives: You can't swim while it is running, it is hard to lift out of the pool, you need an outlet near the pool and I am worried about the life of the filter mesh. And it does not get my steps, but no cleaner has. I think this is an excellent cleaner that is worth the price. 5/5 Jon McKinney "sitar dude" (USA) - See all my reviews, April 18, 2010

the pros and cons of the tiger shark

We bought this unit about 3 years ago from Specialty pool products. My husband wanted to replace another unit we had that worked off the pump and this unit is independent. The plus sides -- it works independently so you don't lose a skimmer like with you do with other models. You put the unit into the pool and there are two options for cleaning, a full cycle and a "quick clean." You use the cycle dependent upon how dirty the pool is. This unit cleans very easily and it really works great. If you have a lot of algae in the pool it will not climb the sides of the pool, it will simply slide down. Here's the down side with a vinyl pool and we found out the hard way: if you do not have a heavy gauge pool liner this unit can pick up a pebble and drill it right through your liner. A year ago we had to replace our liner. I had a customer of ours order a liner. I did not know they came in various gauges and thought he ordered us the best product out there. We went ahead... 3/5 James P. Mailler - See all my reviews, June 25, 2008

My pool has never been cleaner, or cleaned faster

I replaced an aging water pressure-driven Polaris pool vac and booster pump with a TigerShark QC, and couldn't be happier. We have a 35k gallon L-shaped vinyl lined pool, and I could never get the Polaris tuned correctly to clean every corner. If I adjusted the Polaris to have a slight left turn bias, it would miss corners on the right, and vice-versa. After running the Polaris all night, the pool bottom would only be about 80% clean. With my TigerShark, the pool bottom is 100% clean in just a few hours, costing far less in electricity to run since I no longer need to run a booster pump all night. Last-minute plans for pool guests? No problem! The random patterns it uses provide far more efficient and complete coverage than the pressure driven Polaris. And unlike the Polaris, there is no hose "tail" whipping around, stirring up fine sediment to only settle back out later. The filter is more efficient too, so the water is cleaned better. Also, the walls get cleaned... 3/5 Keith Royster (Mooresville, NC United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hayward RC9990 TigerShark Quick Clean 110-Volt/24-VDC Robotic Pool Cleaner (Lawn & Patio) I replaced an aging water pressure-driven Polaris pool vac and booster pump with a TigerShark QC, and couldn't be happier. Tiger Shark Is The Best Pool Vacuum

This pool vacuum is the greatest. Needed a drop-in vacuum that was easy to use since my husband is frequently out of town on business; he uses the pool's manual inline vacuum when he is home. An impeller part on the Shark was broken during shipment, but Hayward sent me a new replacement, no questions asked. We have a Polaris 360 inline vacuum, too, but the Tiger Shark out performs the Polaris hands down. My husband, the pessimist, said the Shark would not climb the pool walls like the Polaris; it did and even scrubbed the waterline. My husband said it would get caught in a corner like the Polaris (we have an odd-shaped pool); it did not. It climbs the first step but is not able to climb the other steps probably due to their short depth. It does, however, climb and clean the swim outs which are deeper in depth. This vacuum has huge scrub rollers and very good suction, and I like the filter cartridges versus the Polaris' filter bag.
