gissystemis2010 The waters of a swimming pool can as much be a breeding ground for disease as a source of pleasure and fun. The swimming pool is a part of our social life. But, being situated in an open space, it accumulates dust and debris from the surrounding neighborhood. Thus, cleaning of the swimming pool is necessary to maintain hygiene. Crystal clear, germs free water is the sign of a well maintained swimming pool. Automatic pool cleaners are recommended for cleaning pools as they allow effective cleaning with least human intervention.

    Just as promised

After receiveing the $85 quote to repair my aging Polaris cleaner I knew it was time for a new one. With all the incentives on the 380 or 3900 I was going to go with the 380 which was actually cheaper (after incentives) than the 280 but I started asking around - mostly pool professionals - and all (8 for 8) recommeneded the 280 even if the price were higher. We are happy with the purchase and I was able to save over $100 by buying off Amazon vs. any retail store. There were a few other online sites where it was $15-$20 cheaper but didn't have the reputation or # of stars. 5/5 Swimdad "swimdad" (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Best pool cleaner

I have tried a number of pool cleaners. Kreepy Krauly was worthless - gets stuck in corners, wears out your pump faster because of its action, gets clogged easily. Dolphin - biggest waste of money I've ever seen, don't get me started. My neighbor has the Polaris 360 that works off the return line - he hates it, these "Lo-pressure" cleaners do not work well. So when I drained my pool to have it replastered, I decided to install a booster pump and new line so that I could have a Polaris 280. Best decision I ever made. Cleans pool great. By far the best pool cleaner out there. 5/5 Tesla "Big ed" (Texas) - See all my reviews I have tried a number of pool cleaners. As good as it has been for the past 10 years

I had to replace my old Polaris 180. I used it for 10 years and it was already over 8 years old when I bought the house. The 280 cleans the pool very well with minimum maintenance. I put a 12 inches nylon sock (6 for $1.00 at the dollar store) over the exit going inside the bag and change it every 3-4 weeeks. This way I do not have to clean the bag. The 280 has an easy to handle bag, a wider suction mouth and the back flow device to move it from places to places in the pool every 5 min. help to make a perfect job. Polaris sent me free of charge a G-9 coupler to hook it up from my old .75 inch pool wall return. Buying through Amazon at discounted price contributed to make it overall an excellent buy. 5/5 Pepo "Pepo" (Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Best money invested in an auto pool cleaner

I've read the mixed reviews and wanted to share my experience with Rover. This is our second season with him, and I don't know what I would do with Rover. We bought him last year, first time pool/house owners and the pool was filled with algae and tons of stuff. Rover worked overtime, and got Everything out. Yes, his bag filled up, but the condition to the pool was not so good. We used him regularly and cleaned him after each use, following directions. We use to have a DE filter which broke and spit the powder all out in the pool.... yup Rover cleaned it all up for us. In the fall we had acorns all in the pool... yup again Rover picked up the big leaves and all the acorns, and I mean he had like 50 of them in his bag at a single time. It looked so funny emptying them out! But, he got the job done, with the solar cover even on top of the pool he works under it.I find it great that you can just drop him in, set him to go, and come back in 2 hours and all done.... sooo easy... 5/5 Marisa Nitsch (Prospect, CT United States) - See all my reviews, June 16, 2010

Say good bye to bulky hoses and hours of manual cleaning!

I love our Pool Rover. We had purchased the Robo-Kleen the season before. The Robo-Kleen lasted less than a full season before it died. We have used the Pool Rover all season without a problem. This unit is a lot lighter than the Robo-Kleen which makes it a pleasure to lift and carry. Although I must say it does feel a bit cheaply made, yet continues to rival in reliability and cleaning performance when compared to our prior Robo-Kleen. I worry that one day that the thin plastic axles of this unit will crack but so far they have been holding up well. The Pool Rover has cleaned up dirt, leaves, and algae from the bottom of our above ground oval swimming pool without a problem. It never gets stuck, nor does it climb up the walls and stall out as our Robo-Kleen often did.So why did I only rate the unit 4 stars instead of 5? Well first off, I'll tell you that it has nothing to do with the reliability and cleaning performance of this unit. I rate it only 4 because of what seems... 4/5 Crazy Glue (USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) best money ever spent !!

i can't tell you the last time i spent $300and was glad i did !!this junior rover is perfect for above ground pools.it does what it says it will.cleans within an hour !!it will stop if dirty or runs into a twig.i used it at pool opening earlier this year.took a couple of hours, however, the pool was sparkling and ready to go,even if it was COLD.inside, is like a polyester "diaper". just unsnap the bottom, pull the cloth off, spray it off, and put back.i don't let my pool get dirty, so i don't have a problem with the cloth diaper getting full.but, i do wash it out after every use. ( my neighbor used it while we were on vacation and didn't wash it out.we had grass growing in it when i pulled it out next time. )read the instructions.i keep mine set on 30.the reset button takes care of itself.check on it periodically because the cord will tangle. it is like neoprene... 5/5 Pauline M. Works with some issues

This cleaner is easy to use and clean, and I've decided to stick with it though I have the following problems:Many times the cleaner may be found "belly up" at the bottom of the pool, or flipped sideways. As you don't track the whole operation unless you are spending an hour or more, you are left wondering when it actually stopped cleaning. To get better coverage of my pool (which has no straight edges) I have had to try multiple locations to start the cleaner.I haven't really seen it climb walls any higher than a little bit more than its own body width. And it cannot clean the steps (does not climb). The pool looks relatively okay after cleaning so I decided to keep this product. Can't ask for perfection from a robotic cleaner at that price tag I guess...========================After 1 year of operation, I am not happy with this product. Great Cleaner, Easy to Use, Easy to Clean

Great vacuum for our vinyl lined, grecian pool. The vac gets "confused" sometimes by the diagonal walls, but pulls itself away in about 10 seconds. It picks up a lot of debris, but spits some out when it shifts itself into reverse. It hasn't ever flipped over on it's back. It gets close, but it doesn't flip over.I especially like the fact that this doesn't use the existing pool filter, it's totally independent of the filter. That was a big plus for this vac.Another cool feature, I'm not sure if the other vacs come with this, but it's cord floats in the water. It's also very easy to clean, you just have to take the vac out of the water, pull out the filter from the top and hose it down. You're done! The caddy is worth getting. It's MUCH better than me using the pole vacuum. So far we love our SharkVac! 5/5 L. Keith - See all my reviews, June 22, 2011

We have an inground 18x36 rectangle w/ 8.5 ft deep end and side stair entrance (liner). Robot takes the full 2 hrs to get all of the pool but it does cover the whole pool (cept stairs).I had have it for about 5 weeks and just drop it in the morning - by 10am the pool is perfect. It hasn't gotten hung up on the drain cover or turtled yet. The filter is easy to remove and hose off. I haven't brought out the old vacuum hose and head yet since the day we got it! It supposed to only go up a 60 degree slope, but i have seen it go up to the water line often. 5/5 robin d gray - See all my reviews This review is from: Hayward RC9740 SharkVac Robotic Pool Cleaner (Lawn & Patio) We have an inground 18x36 rectangle w/ 8.5 ft deep end and side stair entrance (liner). 1 Year Later... Still love it!

I bought the Aquabot T4 about 1 year ago after brushing the pool for days to clean up the algae. It was an expensive purchase and my wife thought I got another expensive toy. After we used it for a year (but left it off during the winter), my wife said another great purchase/choice from me! Because we left the robot turned off during winter and cover the pool, we found the pool was filled with green algae again and the water was so muddy. So I turn on the Aquabot for a 5 hour run for the last 3 days, the pool is back to crystal clear. It does take some work to clean the bag after each run to make it effective. But other than that, it is a great machine and save my back and shoulder from pain because of the scrubing and brushing.I guess the only drawback is now I have less and less exercise because of the robot taking care of the pool brushing! :) 5/5 Y. Pool Rover Above Ground Pool Vac

The Pool Rover is the third and definitely the last automatic vacuum I will ever own. I previously owned the Aqua Critter by Hayward and the Great White by StaRite. The other 2 never completely cleaned my pool and I always ended up having to manually vacuum all the spots they missed. The other draw back to these 2 vacs is that they have to be hooked up to your skimmer to work and because of that the skimmer obviously is out of use during the entire vacuuming time. They also end up clogging your filter with dirt and leaves which forces you to have clean your filter very frequently. The Pool Rover works independently of your filter and skimmer. It comes with a small electrical box that you plug in and gets its power from that. It has a cloth filter bag that collects all the dirt and debris. The bag is reuseable, I have had mine for 3 years now and it is still like new. All you have to do is remove the bag and rinse it out with your garden hose. A few times a year I... 5/5 Debbie (Fairfield, CT) - See all my reviews = Durability:, September 15, 2009

    Well, try this on

A two year warranty; any other in this price range is only one. If you want it to go up your wall, you insert additional floats and increase the timer lap interval. Very easy to operate. Mechanically simple. The reason I'm posting: I find it easier to clean the filter bag when dry. You turn it inside out and shake out the heavier particulate matter as it "falls to your feet". Then, wash the filter bag in a bucket of water and rinse and repeat, no detergent. The instructions assume you will rinse and wash everything right away, after use and it is a good idea, just less awkward for me to shake the filter bag out when dry rather than try to manipulate a wet, floppy, dirty bag in one hand and spray it with a hose in the other hand.I find as I use it often enough, I don't have to wash the bag each time I use it; I'm going for every second time, meaning, I skim a lot manually, and I also do occasional light vacs the old fashioned way, if I feel the mess is... 5/5 B. very good cleaner and a time saver

I will no repeat the specifications that you can read above, except to say that this particular model is confusing as to whether it can be used in ground pool as well as an above ground pool. I have an in ground pool and it worked fine. It was able to climb up the wall quite a bit.I have a mango shape in ground pool, about 26 feet long, with a deep and a shallow end. I put the rover in the pool after I made sure the air was out (first dip in the pool upside down). It sank fine to the bottom, and yet felt light when you tugged on the power cord (make sure not to pull it out of the water by using the power cord). I turned on the external power supply/timer and was surprised to see it move fast on the pool's floor. The timer sets how long it travels in one direction before reversing again. You will have to fine tune this so that the rover cleans the whole pool. Make it too short, and you will find that the rover stays cleaning one area only (prefers to stay in the... 5/5 A. Love the simplicity

With so many things to maintain for a pool already, the last thing I want to do is to maintain an automatic pool cleaner. If I have to replace belts, tracks, booster pumps, and so on, then I might as well spend that time with an old fashioned pole vacuum instead. Before I bought this T-Jet I had a tough time deciding between the Polaris series, T-Jet, and the Turbo T2 model.I ended up buying the T-Jet because of the simplicity with so few moving parts that can break. I'm happy with the decision. The T-Jet cleans the pool crystal clear. But to get the best performance, first I had to make some adjustments to the setup out of the box. So here are some tips. The settings on the T-Jet when it first arrives are for impressing you with the speed in which the water jets propel it across the pool - to maximize the water flow but not maximizing the cleaning potential. The changes I made were the following: 1. snap on the intake extender so that the suction port is... 5/5 FlyingPolarBear (Fullerton, CA USA) - See all my reviews, July 17, 2009

    Almost Perfect

**Update: After a year of use, I'd still give it a 4 star rating. Over the past year, I never had to clean the filter cartridges on my pool. All the dirt and debris that usually went into the filter cartridges got vacuumed up by the robot. I also never had to vacuum the pool using a vacuum head connected to by pool's filtration system. This spring my pool was a mess with dirt and leaf debris. I put in the robot with the leaf bag and several hours later all the debris was vacuumed up. Then I switched to the fine filter bag and a few hours later had a pristine looking pool again. For the money, this has been a great purchase. **Before I bought the turbo, I was cleaning my pool using a conventional vacuum head on a pole that was connected to my filter system. It would take me at least 30 minutes to move the vacuum back and forth across the entire pool to clean it. I have a cartridge filter system so all that dirt I vacuumed up just went into the filter. At times I would have... 4/5 J. Weber (Texas) - See all my reviews, June 21, 2009

    Disappointing performance on algae

I purchased the Turbo T Jet primarily to help deal with occasional heavy algae build-up in my in-ground, kidney-shaped pool. Using the fine cloth filter bag the robot does clean up algae from the bottom of the pool, but within 20-30 minutes it stops in its tracks due to loss of suction caused by the collected algae. It takes about five minutes to remove the robot from the pool, clean out the filter bag, reassemble it, and restart the program. I have to do this 3-5 times before the majority of the pool has been cleaned. What I had really hoped for for was something that I could "set and forget". No such luck, unfortunately, at least not with heavy algae. When the pool has just a light amount of algae (i.e., barely visible) the robot will run for 90 minutes or so before it has to be cleaned. The other drawback is that it does not do a very good job of covering the full pool area -- possibly because of the irregular shape of my pool. I watched it for 10 minutes today as it... 2/5 Toto Fan - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great pool cleaner!

I bought this after my Hayward Navigator died, mainly because it cost half as much and it was the least expensive in-ground cleaner that people seem to be happy with from what I can see on the Internet. After using it I found that it is really a great cleaner. It seems to be especially resistant to jamming compared to the Navigator, which would get small pebbles or twigs caught in it's turbine. It comes with some nice translucent hose sections which seem more flexible than what I get a the pool store. It also has an adapter for a dedicated cleaner port (if you have one) a telepole attachment so that it can be used manually and a flow gauge. It does clean the shallow end of my pool and seems especially good at scrubbing the walls. It does occasionally get stuck on the pool light (of all places)The manual does not say that it is not designed to clean the shallow end. It does say that it will spend most of it's time is the deep end, but that is... 5/5 V. Bitowf - See all my reviews, May 5, 2010

    This product does NOT work!

We bought this cleaner from Pool Supply World based on the positive feedbacks from other people. It was a disaster! The cleaner was stuck in one place and didn't even move no matter what pressure level you set on. We called the Pool Supply World and was initially told that we could not return it since we put it under water already (but how could you know it didn't work without testing it?). They asked us to contact the manufacturer and we did. The manufacture said it may be a defect and sent us another one. It was getting better, the vacuum finally moved around the pool, but needs CONSISTENT attention! We tried and tried and finally gave up. We called the Pool Supply World for return, and finally they agreed, but charged us 20% for restocking fee!!I am not a person who usually writes reviews for products unless it is supper good or bad. For this one, I definitely would NOT recommend it to other people. And be cautious to buy from the online pool store since they charge... 1/5 poolLover123 - See all my reviews This review is from: Pentair GW9500 Kreepy Krauly Great White Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools, Grey/Black (Lawn & Patio) We bought this cleaner from Pool Supply World based on the positive feedbacks from other people. Great White 9500 Pool Cleaner

I was looking for a low priced efficient auto pool cleaner to replace my ever-dying, undependable, expensive to repair Hayward Navigator. Reading the reviews of the GW9500 on Amazon, it seemed that only 1/3 of the reviewers were dissatisfied with the performance of the GW.I found it on Ebay for 289.00, w/free shipping and a 50.00 rebate from Pentair; so I took a 240.00 chance.Connected the hoses, dumped the GW9500 in the pool, then turned the pump on. It was that easy. I have a screen enclosed kidney shaped pool 30x16 with 6ft depth, gunite pool with no swim outs, three steps in the shallow end and a ladder in the deeper end. The pool is spotless, the GW9500 never gets stuck, evenly cleans, and it scours the walls like a Catfish. I leave it in the pool and it cleans with each cycle of the pool pump. All I do is add chemicals to the pool; the GW9500 does the rest. Worthy of mention, I fired my pool service that charged 95.00 a month.Update 05/26/2011: Still... 5/5 wavecat (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Pentair GW9500 Kreepy Krauly Great White Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools, Grey/Black (Lawn & Patio) I was looking for a low priced efficient auto pool cleaner to replace my ever-dying, undependable, expensive to repair Hayward Navigator. Thought I loved this pool cleaner...

A month after I received this unit, I wrote the following:I just got the Nitro Wall Climber a few days ago to replace my Polaris 360. My pool has never looked so good! I would recommend this to anyone with an inground pool. It was delivered promptly, was easy to assemble and use, and in the first 3-hour cleaning cycle made my pool look better than I have ever seen it. It climbed all of the walls and even removed a small amount of yellow algae that had just started to show up on one wall.It climbs all the way to the waterline, seems to know when to back up, pop a wheelie to get off of the drain, and cleans everything very well.It does not climb stairs, but then neither did my Polaris, nor has any other that I have heard of, so as far as I am concerned this is as good as it gets!I have now owned this cleaner for 1 1/2 years, with 6 months of that time in the winter, when it was used maybe 1 time a month. It quit working about 2 weeks... 2/5 David A. Hobt "DAHobt" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews, August 7, 2009

    Great Perfomance for the Price!

I Have owned more expensive units costing 1000-1400. I took my chance on this one. At first the unit would not climb, then it just stopped working. I must say at first I was disappointed, so I returned it to the Manufacturer for a replacement. The new one worked fantastic! It climbs walls doesn't scrub the water line but will clean up to it. That is not a problem for me, as non of the other models did a great at this. It does a great job on the bottom and cleans the deep end as well as the shallow end. Will not climb stairs, but don't get hung up on that, none of the previous models did a good job at that either. The unit is able to go up the steep grade in my pool were other models I have owned would fall back down to the deep end. In addition, it has a great feature: if it senses that it is stuck- like on the pickup drains on the bottom, it will pop a wheely and navigate out of its stuck position. Works very well. No clogs, No jambs. Just cleans. Love it!

They is a diamond amoungst a bunch of glass. I have had them all. Polaris, Krawley and other Hayward junk. Hayward should stick to pumps and filters. This one I thought would be no better. I have been running the Nitro for 12 months. I was wary as it looked to flimsy but it works like crazy. My pool has never been cleaned so well. I have some redwoods that the neighbors have that drop their very spikey needles and my own Texas Umbrellas (China Berry) which are in full fall with the long stick type of leaf stems. And it cleans the china berry's themselves that the squirrels cut in half and litter the pool with this time of year. All of it gets sucked in and devoured. Cleaning it out is easy and no clogs in the suck holes. No wimmpy jambs in the wings. No breaking of the mechanism. I am delighted. My only cavaets are they didn't use stainless on some of the inside screws which I replaced. The bag which I thought wasn't so tough is. No holes or damage after a year. 5/5 Gary B. Very Happy customer

We put in an inground pool two years ago and have struggled with keeping it clear the whole time. We just opened the pool up for the year and to our dismay the pool was cloudy and had a layer of white scum on the bottom. THE AQUABOT's instructions were very easy to understand and to follow . We did have to clean the filter frequently for the first few days but I have never seen our pool looking so clear or clean as it looks right now. We had to pour some cement close to the pool and accidentlly got some in the pool ,no problem for the aquabot. We bought another cleaner when we bought the pool and paid almost as much,I wish now we had bought the aquabot instead. As the person who is responsible for cleaning the pool,I am in Love with the Aquabot!!!!!! 5/5 Lawrence D. Wilson (Calera, AL, US) - See all my reviews, April 26, 2010

    They call it "The Classic"

I bought my aquabot "classic" at BJ's Wholesale Club about 4 years ago. I was under the impression that this unit would be fool-proof, easy to use, a work horse, and cheap to operate.Let's start this review with how it operates first and then get into the maintenance issues towards the end of the review. They're advertising that you simple plug it in and walk away. It cleans the whole pool, the steps, goes around obstacles such as ladders and will not get stuck. I personally found that I had to "baby" this unit. Every hour or so there seemed to be something going on. I found that it did hang on the pool ladder occasionally, so after a few times, I simply started pulling the ladder out to avoid this from happening. No big deal. In 4 years, I must say that I only saw this unit on the steps a few times, but then again, I wasn't watching too much. If I wanted the steps cleaner, I would catch the unit and placed it there physically. Then there's the claim that this unit will vacuum... 5/5 Joseph S. Works fine when it's not broken

We've owned this machine since May 2007. It has been sitting in our garage for a year, since the repairs needed (electrical cord, electrical supply box, filter bag, etc.) would cost over $600 including shipping (to New Jersey from Texas). During the first two years the brush, drive track and drive belts have had to be replaced at least once if not more. The filter bag tore apart last year as well. It worked beautifully the first year and pretty well the second, but replacing the belts, track and brush was somewhat difficult. Also, I do not know if this is typical for robotic pool cleaners, but after being in the pool and filled with water, it was pretty heavy and somewhat difficult for me to lift out of the pool. I cannot recommend this machine due to the high repair costs. 2/5 riverlass (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Aqua Products AB Aquabot In-Ground Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaner for Pools, Up to 40-Foot (Lawn & Patio) We've owned this machine since May 2007.
