Costco is more than a warehouse store. Shopping at Costco is more than a purchasing exercise. Read the book, and you'll see why the Costco experience can be fun and profitable. It's almost therapy on the cheap, but a lot more entertaining.

Robotics, modelling, planning and control

Creator: Bruno Siciliano, Lorenzo Sciavicco, Luigi Villani | Technology & Engineering - 2009

This text is suitable for use in senior undergraduate and graduate courses in automation and computer, electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering courses with strong robotics content."--BOOK JACKET.

Publisher: Springer Verlag

About this book
"Robotics provides the basic know-how on the foundations of robotics: modelling, planning and control. The text develops around a core of consistent and rigorous formalism with fundamental and technological material giving rise naturally and with gradually increasing difficulty to more advanced considerations." "Appendices ensure that students will have access to a consistent level of background in basic areas such as rigid-body mechanics, feedback control, and others. Problems are raised and the proper tools established to find engineering-oriented solutions rather than to focus on abstruse theoretical methodology. To impart practical skill, more than 60 examples and case studies are carefully worked out and interwoven through the text, with frequent resort to simulation. In addition, nearly 150 end-of-chapter problems are proposed, and the book is accompanied by a pdf solutions manual containing the MATLAB code for computer problems; this is available free of charge to those adopting Robotics as a textbook for courses. This text is suitable for use in senior undergraduate and graduate courses in automation and computer, electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering courses with strong robotics content."--BOOK JACKET.

Catalog, an illustrated history of mail-order shopping

Creator: Robin Cherry | Business & Economics - 2008-11-10

Insightful historical commentary places these catalogs in their social context, making this book a visual pleasure and a historically important piece of Americana.

Publisher: Princeton Architectural Pr

About this book
Since 1872 when traveling salesman Aaron Montgomery Ward realized he could eliminate the middleman and sell goods directly to his customers, Americans have had an ongoing love affair with the mail-order catalog, which continues undiminished even in today's online-driven world. The practical can find deals on furniture and clothing in L.L.Bean and Sears, the extravagant can consider his and hers matching helicopters, windmills, hot-air balloons, and submarines in the Neiman Marcus Fantasy Catalog; those looking to get their pulses racing can browse Victoria's Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch; while our inner swashbuckler can travel the world through the pages of the J. Peterman Owner's Manual where Moroccan caftans, Russian Navy t-shirts, and wooden water buckets from rural China entice the imagination. In Catalog: The Illustrated History of Mail Order Shopping, Robin Cherry traces the timeline of these snapshots from American history and discovers along the way how we dressed, decorated our houses, worked, played, and got around. From corsets to bell-bottoms, from baby-doll dresses and Doc Martens all the way to iPods, the history of these catalogs is the history of our lives and our culture. GIs during World War II were kept company by the models in the pages of lingerie catalogs; hockey goalies fashioned makeshift shin guards out of them during the Great Depression, and creative children across the country still play with homemade paper dolls cut from clothing catalogs. A number of celebrities got their start modeling for catalogs: Gregory Peck, Lauren Bacall, Katherine Heigl, Matthew Fox, and Angelina Jolie. Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan both got their first guitars from the Sears catalog. Organized into categories such as clothing, food, animals, and houses, author Robin Cherry explores the vivid stories behind Sears, Montgomery Ward, Lillian Vernon, Harry & David, Jackson & Perkins, and of course, 45 years of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. Insightful historical commentary places these catalogs in their social context, making this book a visual pleasure and a historically important piece of Americana.

A Good Pool Cleaner That Costs Less to Run and Maintain

Updated note after three months of using the robot: It could not move after three months. However, the customer service was helpful to help diagnose the problem and asked me to ship it to Dallas for repair. It cost me $18 to ship from Houston, and the robot was returned in one week under working condition. Thanks to its two-years warranty instead of 90-days. If there is one complain, it would be that they should have a contracted repair service in every major metropolitan area, such as the 4th largest city, Houston. Because of the repair, I reduce its rating from five-star to four-star._______________________________________________I had used Polaris pool cleaners for years and found it has the following disadvantages: high electric bill from running a water pump; small bag capacity with frequent cleaning; frequent expenses for buying expensive replacement parts or repairs; and moderate durability (last about 3 years and then cannot be justified for repairing and... 4/5 Vincent Lin (Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews, October 7, 2010

    It's perfect...while it works.

This one is my second Scrubber60. The first one, bought in May 2011, worked for just three months until it "traction" motor stopped completely. As the replacement cost of this part is almost half of a new machine I decided to buy a new one in November 2011...which worked for just two weeks. This time it was its Pump motor which did not work anymore. After investing so many $$$, and living in Argentina (so warranty is not an option), I decided to cannibalize the first unit, taking its Pump motor for a desperate transplant to the newest one...and it worked! Now it's working for two weeks already and I hope it will continue alive at least until the end of the local Summer (March). This machine should have a five stars qualification for the way it works (when and if) but, on the other hand, it should have a one star for its durability, so my rate is the average: three stars. 3/5 Facundo Carrillo "Facundo" (Buenos Aires, Argentina) - See all my reviews, January 23, 2012

    Good Cleaner but......not so durable.

I bought one of these in May 2010, and I have had to send it in for repair twice. The first time, the pump motor went bad. It is now broken again, and I am sending it back again. The pump motor went bad again. Customer service has been very helpful, but I really wish this thing was more durable. It has now cost me over 75.00 to ship it back twice!! When the cleaner works, it does a fantastic job at cleaning my 24,000 gallon oval pool. It feels cheaply made, and it is evident that the pump motor is not durable. I was able to get about 20 full cycles each time before the pump failed. Hopefully this doesnt happenm again. If I could, I woukd give it 3 1/2 stars. Feel free to contact me if anyone has ??? about this cleaner.UPDATE: After being without my cleaner for 10 days, smartpool sent me a replacement unit. I hope this one lasts. 4/5 Furious "fioreb" (Philly, PA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Scrubber 60 Robotic In Ground Pool Cleaner (Misc.) Thought I loved this pool cleaner...

A month after I received this unit, I wrote the following:I just got the Nitro Wall Climber a few days ago to replace my Polaris 360. My pool has never looked so good! I would recommend this to anyone with an inground pool. It was delivered promptly, was easy to assemble and use, and in the first 3-hour cleaning cycle made my pool look better than I have ever seen it. It climbed all of the walls and even removed a small amount of yellow algae that had just started to show up on one wall.It climbs all the way to the waterline, seems to know when to back up, pop a wheelie to get off of the drain, and cleans everything very well.It does not climb stairs, but then neither did my Polaris, nor has any other that I have heard of, so as far as I am concerned this is as good as it gets!I have now owned this cleaner for 1 1/2 years, with 6 months of that time in the winter, when it was used maybe 1 time a month. It quit working about 2 weeks... 2/5 David A. Hobt "DAHobt" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews, August 7, 2009

    Great Perfomance for the Price!

I Have owned more expensive units costing 1000-1400. I took my chance on this one. At first the unit would not climb, then it just stopped working. I must say at first I was disappointed, so I returned it to the Manufacturer for a replacement. The new one worked fantastic! It climbs walls doesn't scrub the water line but will clean up to it. That is not a problem for me, as non of the other models did a great at this. It does a great job on the bottom and cleans the deep end as well as the shallow end. Will not climb stairs, but don't get hung up on that, none of the previous models did a good job at that either. The unit is able to go up the steep grade in my pool were other models I have owned would fall back down to the deep end. In addition, it has a great feature: if it senses that it is stuck- like on the pickup drains on the bottom, it will pop a wheely and navigate out of its stuck position. The more expensive units I had owned would get stuck and I would have to... 4/5 Pluggy68 - See all my reviews This review is from: SmartPool Wall Climber In-Ground Pool Cleaner w/ Caddy Cart I Have owned more expensive units costing 1000-1400. Works very well. No clogs, No jambs. Just cleans. Love it!

They is a diamond amoungst a bunch of glass. I have had them all. Polaris, Krawley and other Hayward junk. Hayward should stick to pumps and filters. This one I thought would be no better. I have been running the Nitro for 12 months. I was wary as it looked to flimsy but it works like crazy. My pool has never been cleaned so well. I have some redwoods that the neighbors have that drop their very spikey needles and my own Texas Umbrellas (China Berry) which are in full fall with the long stick type of leaf stems. And it cleans the china berry's themselves that the squirrels cut in half and litter the pool with this time of year. All of it gets sucked in and devoured. Cleaning it out is easy and no clogs in the suck holes. No wimmpy jambs in the wings. No breaking of the mechanism. I am delighted. My only cavaets are they didn't use stainless on some of the inside screws which I replaced. The bag which I thought wasn't so tough is. No holes or damage after a year. 5/5 Gary B. This is a fantastic cleaner. I've had a Dolphin for the last 9 years and this cleaner just blows it away. The remote feature is great for spot cleaning and within the 3 hour cycle my entire pool was extreamly clean. It climbs stairs

Background:Concrete Pool with 25,000 gal.I bought it on an Internet web site. Price searched to get the best price.I give 5 stars because it is beyond my expectation with the price. My original goal was to use it to scrub algae off. It scrubs off only top layer. It can not scrub those dark color algae off the wall. That was simply a wrong idea to have. It does filter very fine dirt that my old Polaris did not. It does climb stairs. My stair is round shape. It stuck at the curve sometimes. It can escape most of the time after few minutes of struggle.Pros,1. Cheap2. Climbs stairs; Climbs all the way to top (deepest side is 8 feet) and scrubs.3. Pretty advanced comparing to other high end products.4. Helps main filter; Gallon per hour is high.5. Remote is fun though it is not needed other than having fun.6. Customer service is good. Since I bought it online, I have to mail it back to Smartpool with poof of purchase... 5/5 Ha-Ha "haha001" (Potomac, MD) - See all my reviews This review is from: Nitro Wall Scrubber RC Robotic Pool Cleaner for Ingound Pools Background:Concrete Pool with 25,000 gal.I bought it on an Internet web site. So what if it doesn't climb walls?

I was originally only looking at robots that could climb walls. I settled on a dolphin but when I learned that the pool place would have to order it I decided to keep shopping (I was looking for instant pool gratification). The person at another pool place recommended the nitro.I wasn't all that price sensitive and told him I just wanted something that worked well. He had an $1100 Dolphin climber in stock (same one the first place tried to order for me) and also the nitro. He told me that the nitro was hands down superior which I found interesting because he was recommending the cheaper of his products. The main issue is that the nitro doesn't climb but realistically it takes about 60 seconds to brush the sides of the pool so that it all falls to the bottom. This didn't turn out to be as much of an issue as I thought. The carrier was a bit of a pain to put together (the parts aren't interchangeable so make sure you have things set up right before... 5/5 M. nice pool cleaner - good value

I have used it now several times and this is a nice pool cleaner. It replaces a Kreepy Krawly, which, sometimes, but not often enought, worked fine. I found this unit on the net for $589 delivered to my door (great price for this type of product.) Unless you have an electrical outlet right next to your pool, you will want to also get an appropriate length three prong extension cord so you can place the transformer within about five feet of your pool. I also found no need to assemble or use the free caddy that came with it, as I just keep the unit on a shelf in my shed. The unit is very easy and fast to use. It cleaned everything well, and never go stuck on my ladder. While it is true that it does not climb vertical walls, it does climb the parts of the wall that are at 45 degrees. For me, that's fine. I can brush the vertical parts of my pools in just a few minutes. While it is certainly easy to empty out the bag, there is really no reason to empty it every time you use the unit,... 5/5 Mark W. Excellent new robotic pool cleaner

I bought this cleaner to replace an aging Polaris pressure-side cleaner that no longer cleaned very well. I did a lot of research before deciding on the Nitro. The cleaner is doing an excellent job, cleaning my entire 40x20 pool within two hours. 5/5 W. Simpson - See all my reviews, June 11, 2008
